HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Goderich Signal-Star, 1984-07-04, Page 40PAGE 12 I t' 1 a great feeling to come froniSt. Joseph's friend although -many times she made us put our heads down on our desks while the rest of the class played and laughed. How embarrassing! But she had to gg through a lot though. Like the one who insisted on eating his and everyone else's orange, peelings, causing a rucltess of laughter and disruption. • 'But tune has passed. This past year, Mrs. Eedy did an excellent job of helping us to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. She'll always be special in our hearts. Now we thought it was big time! We got to go to our classroom through the senior door and we were only in Grade 3. WOW. Mrs. Park was our third grade teacher. We were with the big Grade 4s. They were a great influence on us. I'm sure the teachers will agree that they taught us helpful hints, especially on what to do when we were in a boring class. The setting was in a science class while watching a boring film on plants. Mrs. O'Keefe was our brave teacher. A certain mischievous, Grade 4 student whipped a piece of plasticene across the room. And that started the°Grade 3-4 science class riot ! Mrs. Park, also our music teacher, handled us superbly, especially on the trips down to- the Stratford Kiwanis Music Festival, where none of us were in the least bit interested in doing a good job but going to McDonald's for lunch afterwards. She went through a lot and we all wish her the best of luck where she's teaching now in St. Mary's. Goderich. By this time, five of our big class had left and it wasn't so big anymore. Grade 4 was unusual because our class, - 'was split. Four of us were in the 5-6 class and five were in the 2-3 class: Mrs. Park handled the 2,3 and 4 class and Mrs. Frayne and Mr. Zyluk were in charge of the 4,5 and 6s. Mr. Zyluk's math classes were always enjoyable because we played often the ever popular game (that year)—floor hockey! It was very beneficial when it came to winning Huron - Perth for three consecutive years. Mrs. Frayne and Mr. Zyluk continued ' teaching us for two more years. Mrs. Frayne retired last year and Mr. Zyluk now lives in Edmonton, Alberta. We thank 'both of them and they both did a good job. This also was the year we began the subject we all love, francais. Mr. Bullen was the teacher who started us in this strange language as we thought at the time. Half the we didn't have a clue what we were speaking let alone learning! l wonder if we have improved? Miss Doher was our French teacher the following year. Mrs. Hogan has been our music teachr for three great years,, You have to admit, she has directed so far three successful Christmas concerts, but it wasn't easy to get everything together was it Mrs. Hogan? Miss Devlin has taught us a lot in the past two years. She is an excellent French teacher and she helped us prepare for any difficult tasks we might have in future classes. Thank -you so much for doing a job well done. We'll miss you. Another of our teachers is our present principal, Mr. Sharpe. Mr. Sharpe has been The Grade 8 graduates from St. Joseph's School, Kingsbridge this year are, back row, left to right, Armand Forgett, Ron Plasschaert, Maurice Delbergue and Sean Wilson; and front row, left to right, in charge of the school for three years. He's done a good job and we hope he keeps up the good work. Now I come to the two most important years of school. Preparing for high school. Mrs. McDongah and Mrs. Connelly have taught us so much and are also very special and we are all thankful for what they've helped us accomplish. We have had happy times but there were those times we had to stay in from recess because we all talked a little too much or wandered too much. There were also those who threw snowballs or iceballs and got kicked off house leagues but that's all in the past. Those are but memories now. All our teachers are valuable. We couldn't ask for any better! I'd like to thank you all for being the best. The second class are the ones who put up with us when we got home! They are a special group also. Without them, we CONGRATULATIONS Class of '84 Wishing you a shining future and a world of bright promise Colleen Van Osch, Maureen Stapleton, Lisa Card, Mary -Anne Vranken and Agnes Van Osch. (Photo by Joanne Buchanan) wouldn't be here! Our parents have put up with a lot of things like whining! Oh dad, do I have to do my homework now? I can do it on the bus. Or, oh mom, do I have to go to bed? Our parents have encouragement for us, they've helped us with homework and the list can go on and, on. But for the many times they've pushed us to go on, I say thank you. Now I come to the last class, who are people like Father Ed, Father Frank, - Brother Carl and Father Morrisey. They have helped us even others spiritually all - through our lives in the Catholic faith. They have helped us in preparing for the Sacraments and they are excellent when it comes to advice. You are very important to us and thank, you ever so much for being there. I'msaying thank you a lot. Well, I could say thank you all evening but we don't have the time. Maybe the years in school were hard with difficult decisions, assignments and exams but we will benefit from them in the future. There were also our trips to the zoo, Wonderland, Elmira, Kincardine, Storybook Gardens and more. The teachers and parents had to put up with a lot! Like the one who wandered off and got lost or the one on the bus who had to go to the washroom when we were no where near a gas station. But the teachers were patient and I'd like to say thank you. I wouldn't ask for a better school than I've been attending for the past nine years. I know they have been the best and I wouldn't trade any of my eight other graduates for anyone. They are all very special friends. Our school is small but it's nice to know everyone. It's a great feeling to know we've come from St. Joseph's, Kingsbridge and I speak on behalf of all my fellow grads when I say I hope in the future we'll make all of you who cared, proud. 524-7711 Congratulations the class of '84 Candleiight Restaurant i Tavern Live Entertainment Every Week -end BAYFIELD RD.
