We will do our. best tp
try and better this vgorld
BY LENORE CRABB
Father Loebach, Father Hardy, Mr.
McDade, teachers, parents, guests and
fellow graduates:
Tonight we take a big step up in our lives.
We are leaving a place that is full of
memories and entering another that will
soon hold new memories for us. We will
meet new friends, yet cherish our old ones.
We will make numerous mistakes, yet learn
from them. We will broaden our horizons,
• yet remember what we accomplished in the
years before.
, Right now perhaps we dread the thought
of going back to school after summer
holidays, thinking of school as sometimes
boring and uninteresting, wondering why
we study a subject which we took last year. I
suppose when we are old and grey we will
think back and say that school days were
among the happiest of our lives.
There is a saying, "Friends are as good as
they come," and that is certainly true abut
this class. From kindergarten right through
to grade eit, we have had many good
times together. Good times such as class
trips, school plays; surprise parties for
teachers, school projects and pranks on cer-
tain people, will always be remembered
with fondness.
In concluding, let us think about those who
have taught us through the, years. From
Mrs. McMichael to Miss Stemp we have had
many wonderful teachers. They have taught
us welt and despite their little faults (name-
ly Miss Stemp's corny jokes, which We bear
with the utmost patience), they are all to be
thanked with a sincere heart. Mr. McDade
for the interest and concern he has always
shown, Miss Stemp especially, for the hard
task of preparing us for high school, and not
least Father Loebach for his constant
spiritual guidance and training for the im-
portant steps of First Communion, Sacra-
ment of Penance and Confirmation.
William Shakespeare said, "All the world
is a stage." Now here we are, the
graduating class of 1984, completing the
first act and ready to start the Opening scene
of the second act. We step out into a world of -
doubts and the real threat of nuclear war,
yet we shall.do our best to try and better this
world of ours.
Thank you.
