The memories of nine years come back to life BY JULIE TRICK - I am honoured today to present this speech op behalf of our class. It is an important day for all of us, and we are fortunate to be able to spend it with friends and family. • Nine years ago, many of us started kindergarten here as children, and today, are emerging as y'ound adults. It was in our kindergarten years with Mrs. Cunningham that we made our first friends and received a positive attitude towards public school. As we progressed into the junior grades, we started receiving responsiblities. Homework became more plentiful and good behaviour was expected. And when we approached, our senior years, we started preparing for this day. The day in which we would no longer be considered public school students, but high school students, ready to accept new challenges. We will all start high school this fall with mixed feelings. We will have to leave behind many good friends, our respected teachers and staff members, and many memories and emotions of our years at Holmesville. The sadness we' faced as our fellow classmates moved away. The, times we were envious of our teachers who sent us out in below -zero temperatures while they sipped their hot coffee in the warmth of the school. And the times we experienced happiness when -we put on a good performance at the concerts and afterward felt relieved it was over. Each of us has experienced these emotions throughout the years and today we gave another -a sense of accomplishment. We have now developed into new types of persons. No longer are we irresponsible children but persons with a learned ability to cope, to perceive, to understand and to withstand. Though we have worked hard to achieve these -goals, we owe a great deal to our teachers and undoubtedly, our parents.
