They included; Paul`l;Iamilton, junior; Denise Johnston, midget and Jason Dempsey, midget. (s hoto b Da e S kes Bonnie Martin and Allred Tebow, senior students at the Queen Elizabeth School in Goderich, recently competed in the Provincial Special Olympics track meet for Region 4 held in Windsor. Bonnie brought home a bronze medal for the softball throw event and a silver in the standing long jump. Alfred won a bronze medal in both high jump and shot put and a gold in the 200 metre race. It was also a.good night for fans of regular Goderich drivers Ross $actin and Rick Hodgins, as eachsteered two horses to victory. In the fourth race Battin drove Mer- rywood Liz, owned by William Bennett of Seaforth, to victory narrowly defeating - Faithful Missy with Clarence Young in the bike. Battin continued his winning streak in the fifth as Noble Amy owned by Kopp De Groot of Goderichypaced to her first season win in 2:09.4. Rick Hodgins posted back to back wins in the seventh and eighth races. Hodgins in the seventh directed the favorite Setons Choice to an easy victory, pacing the mile in 2:05 - the second fastest mile of the evening. In the • eighth, Hodgins posted his second win driv- ing,Lillian Dodger to her first season win in a time of 2:09.1,. In the ninth and feature race of the even- ing, Fred Sadler of Parkhill drove Garmor Natalie to her sixth win in'eleven starts. In, the same race Warren's Duke with Glen Woodburn in the bike cut a quick half in 1:01.2 but could not keep up the pace as Thomas Whitney and Garmor Natalie battl- ed it out in the stretch. Garmor Natalie pac- ed the fastest mile of the evening in 2:04.3. Through the 10 races of the' evening Goderich owned and trained horses did not fare too badly. Garmor Enuff owned by Thomas McLean and driven to victory by nephew Randy McLean in the tenth race, v9 was the second win of the evening for a Goderich horse.- With a brief look at how other Goderich horses finished ® In the first race Square Arm, owned by Rai Cook of Goderich and driven by Randy Henry; had a tough trip and finished sixth. In the second race offourGoderich horses competing, Highland Ascot, owned by Brian Kerr, fared the best, finishing second. In the same race Kim Mathers, owned by Broken M Stables finished fourth, Mar- El Patsy, owned by Lionel Kass finished- sixth and Doug Kerr's Springtime Flicka was seven- th. Lissa'a Girl in the fourth, owned by Bob and Ran Daer, finished seventh. Goderich owned Linlor Lee finished third in the sixth. In the samc.,race, Apopka Byrd owned by Gorlyn AcrIVaf Hohnesville and driven IV William Rapson paced its second lifetime start to victory in 2:11.1. ' The seventh race hosted three Goderich horses. Fly Fly Henrietta finished second, Deep Run Super was fourth and Rustic Helene- finished sixth. In the eighth race Doug Kerr's Sunrise Bingo was fifth and Feagan's Jay Bee Scamp was seventh. Crowd favorite Handy Slipper owned by Carl and Grant Fisher paced a good mile in 2:06.3 despite a difficult race and finished seventh in the ninth race: Despite the exciting .races held Thursday night, both the attendance and handle were down.
