It did considerable damage. Several large trees were uprooted, branches (some large) were scattered all over the place, T.V. antennas were bent and wrecked but there was no property damage and no one was hurt. There is a large number of permanent dwellers as well as summer cottages in the area. The community extends congratulations to Barbara Jean Scott, daughter of Bill and Bertha Scott concession 4, Huron Township. Barb has been selected by the Ripley and District Lions Club for an Internatioiaal Youth Bxchange. Barbara will visit Lubbock, Texas from July 14 to August 11. The community extends sympathy Jo the family of the late Jessie McIntyre. Mrs. McIntyre had been in residence at the Pinecrest Manor in Lucknow for ten years. Jennifer and Laura Ullrich of London are now spending a few days with their grand- parents, George and Betty Moncrief while their motfm, Jane Ullrich is finishing her teaching year. Peggy has now secured a position in Kitchener. Visiting with Rhetta MacLennan are her two daughters, Louise Millar of Palmerston and Florence MacLennan of Kitchener. The monthly meeting of the W.M.S. of the Ashfield Presbyterian Church met Thursday evening at the home of Marj MacLean. Charles and Mayme Wilkins visited on Wednesday evening at the home of Dave and Fran Elphick to see John and Joanne Hughes and their three children, Bronwen, Sarp and Bill. Mr. and Mrs. Hughes are home on holidays from Cyprus where they have been for a couple of years. Grace Hartford of tucknow visited on Sunday with Mr. arid Mrs. Gordon Robb. Visiting on the weekend with Dorothy .Finlayson were Barbara Rogerson and her two sons, Charles and Andrew of Toronto; Paul and Jane Emberlin of Toronto; Carrel Finlayson and her husband, John Balch and son of Toronto. When talking to My. ion McCharles of Kincardine 1 discovered 1 had made a mistake in saying that her son, John had been sick all winter when it was their other" son, Donald of Chatham. And then to top it all off he had just got back to work for three weeks when he had the .misfortune to break five bones in his foot. Oliver and Marion McCharles were away for a couple of weeks holidays. They visited in Brandon and Portage La Prairie in Manitoba and were also in Fargo, North Dakota. It was while they were away they heard about Donald breaking his foot.
