GOPERlCH SIGNAL -STAR, WEDNESDAY, JULY 4,1984
PAGE
A second meeting to examine the
direction of tourism and the town's
prmotionai and organizational
resporlsiblities, will be held at MacKay
Hall , Wednesday July 11 at 7,30 p.m.
While the organizational review
committee of council carved out some
recommendations from an initial meeting
attended by about 25 interested citizens,
there was some agreement that a second
meeting was required to investigate the
vital topic.
Officials had hoped to attract more
business people to the meeting citing the.
fact that they have a direct lifeline to the
tourist rade. There was also diseuSalon on
the consolidation of the -existing business -
organizations in town to present a more
united front in the promotion of the tourist
trade. •
As t result of the public input at the first
meeting, committee chairman Glen Carey
recommended that the town actively
pursue • the proinotion of Goderich a
tourist attraction and that a person, either
full or part-time, be hired to pursue the
industrial. and tourist promotional
interests of the town.
It was also suggested at that meeting
that the business community be urged to
take a more active interest.
