The Bicentennial Showcase, a 90 -minute
family entertainment' show commissioned
by the provincial government, will be in
Goderich Tuesday, July 17.
The show, which will appear in 26
municipalities across the province during
July and August, features top flight talent
reflecting the dreams, aspirations and
accomplishments of the people of Ontario.
Through the incorporation of singers,
dancers, actors and musicians drawn from
all parts of the province, the audience will
see a panorama of Ontario's people from
yesterday to today as expressed through the
arts of the pro

DONALD POLIQUIN
Nurtured in the heart of northern Ontario,
Donald Poliquin has brought the Franco-
Ontarian Joie -De -Vivre to every province in
Canada over the past two decades. From
Labrador to Vancouver Island, including
the Northwest Territories, audiences have
fallen under his spell, caught up in his infec-
tious hand -clapping toe -tapping music that
demands spontaneous involvement.
A singer, guitarist and saxophone player,
Donald is at home playing blues, jazz, coun-
try and folk music. In recent years, he has
devoted his energy and talents to the revival
of traditional French-Canadian music and
folklore. ,
Donald's extensive touring, some 500
shows since 1981, has taken him to the
Canada Canoe Festival, The Voyageur
Festival in St. Boniface, Ottawa's Franco-
Ontarian Festival, the Canada Games in
Thunder Bay, Harbour Front's "Carnival"
in Toronto and the Sudbury Festival Boreal,
among others. He -has appeared on CBC
Television (national and regional), Radio -
Quebec and TVO. POLIQUIN, his first LP,
offers an introduction to the music that has
made Donald so popular across the country.
RENE HIGHWAY
This dynamic and versatile dance
choreographer, instructor, and now actor
has a broad backgroundin the entertain-
ment field. Acclaimed as one of Canada's
top dancer/choreographers in the contem-
porary vein, he began his training'°at the
Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. This was
followed by modern classes at the schools of
The Toronto Dance Theatre (scholarship);
Vancouver's Anna Wyman Dance Theatre;
New York's Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham,
Jennifer Muller (scholarship); England's
London Contemporary Dance Theatre, as
well as studying in Athens, Rome and Paris.
In addition, he has studied Jazz and is cur-
rently taking Ballet at Actus Dance In-
stitute.
Mr. Highway's appearances span the en-
tire performing spectrum. He danced with
the Toronto Dance Theatre for six years. As
a dancer/choreographer he was involved in
many presentations including New World
Images for Night of the First Americans at
the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Perfor-
ming Arts, Native Americans in the Arts in
New York, New Song ... New Dance at Har-
bourfront, Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee
Celebrations in Ottawa, Banff's School of
Fine Arts, the Saskatoon Symphony, and
also in England and Denmark. His most re-
cent successes were The Sage, The Dancer
and the Fool and Meridian.
For television and filtn Mr. Highway
choreographed and danced in Ann Mor-
tifee's Journey to Kairos for CBC -TV and
TVO. As an actor he appeared in a wide
variety of roles such as Buffy Saint -Marie's
Native American Child on TVO's Song and
the Camera series, the non -speaking lead in
Madelaine de Vercheres, and the lead Theatre in Denmark and N
character role in the feature film, October Theatre Company in Siou
Stranger. He studied acting with the Tukak tario.
