Empire Day at School
May 24th, Empire Day Was royally
celebrated at S. S. No. 3, 'Osborne, by
the scholars of the school, Eva Speare
ably filling the office of chairman.
The program consisted of songs, rec-
itations, readings, and a debate, res-
olved "that Canada is a better place
for a settler than Australia." The neg-
ative won by four points. The judges
were Miss Janie McCullough, Miss
Bernie Francis and Miss Alma Road-
house, Miss Francis gave the decision
and spoke a few encouraging words
to the scholars, The readings were
written by the scholars and were all
about the British Empire. The way
in which the selections were rendered
was a credit to the teacher a,ncl schol-
ars.
