The 'extra war stamp was an unneceissars nuis- ance and added to that is the notice sent out 'that (till letters, ,bi1Ls•, vac- counts, whether in sealed or .unsealed envelopes. must be handled by the Post 0.6fice department. This pro- hibits the `sending of a note or, mese sage in an 'envelope. to ,your (neigh- bor. or a scholar dropping off a• -letter on his way to school. The .butsiness man .may not send .'an'.accounti or bill in an iunsealed (envelopee by'. his del- ivers boy. 'These inconveniences are not felt by the majority ,whose cor- respondence or business relations are. limited but are a. real burden to mans For instance few ane hit harder than are ,the creameries. The patrons of the creameries in this section are considerably over a thousand if not over two thousand. Checks: are sent oat every two weeks aryl ,onlythose who undertake to affix the war stamps realize the +added -:nuisance The cream haulers .h'ave•' always 'de- livered these checks and the crearo. statement to the patrons while. , on their rounds. The Post Office depart- ment would put a stop to this and compel the .creameries to use tlai Wails. and gay. for . that tvhieh in no \vay helps them but (tt (the, same • time/ would cost a large 'sum each month,. The postal service in itself 'for this district could hardly be worse. Let- ters from the Winchelsea creamery would have to travel a ,eircuic of many miles end ,changes before ening of them would reach patrons practic- ally right of their doors. Some let- ters would ,have to go ,to 'Woodham change and go to St, >1'arys the fol- lowing day, change again for London thence to Exeter or fI-Lensall and then, back again right'Leto the ,territory of the creamery,. Could you conceive of anything worse tall through. , it certainly is absurd and Shows up; the department a bad light. • .1;'Ostal d •eat in C p Mrs. Wm. Choir Entertained—The choir or James street Methodist church were royally entertained by the Trustee Board on Prides evening of'last Week after practise in Wambold's restau- rant.. They were treated to ice:,creare •ix Qr e.ocn,.lates, ,etc., and. praati cally had a ' &See hand in, the, iiselectio:n of any :.of the luxuries .in the restau- rant. To be turned loosein a con- fectionery store has been the ambi- tion of most of us at .vome period of our lives and isn't it :surprising to think how .much we would get away with if we only had .the chance and our imagination would lead us to be- lieve that there would be little left but empty boxes •find shelves never for a minute considering that • our storage capacity would call a halt be- fore one would notice any shrinkage in the stock. Well James street' choir had the privilege for which most of us have longed and while She good things were showered upon them there was no undue imposition on the( kind generosity of the Trustee Board. To make the manors linger the members of the choir, ,young and old .filed out of the lrestaurant bearing an all day sucker. .While we think thes ouug ladies .and ,gentlemen soon made cyweir work of these latter we wouldn't, ba surprised if most .of the , married members remembered. their better halves at home and shared; with them this` last luxury. The iservice of song forms a very valaoble part of the re- ligious service and we who enjoy this part of the service do not appreciate as we 'might the Isacrificicee that• the members of any choir must a'aake, both on Sundays and during the week to keep rip the high:st.atidard of mus - ie. that is furnished :from ,week to week.
