activities and one event involved racing with a badminton birdie balanced on a

Ticket sales up at Blyth Festival
The Blyth Summer
Festival recently an-
nd'tinced that advance
ticket sales are up 70 per
cent from this time last
year. Anne Mann, Box
Office Manager of the
Festival, assures patrons
that, "There are still Pots
of tickets available for all
dates. However, I would
advise patrons to make
their reservations soon to"
avoid disappointment."
Subscription vouchers
for four adniiss,ions to the
.:plays are still available
at a reduced price until
July 4,• 1980.
Ms. Mann also men-
tions that the Festival has
slightly changed the
system of seat .reser-
vation to better ac-
commodate •patrons.'
People may now reserve
a seat number any time
after 7 p.m. on the day of
the performance.
She says, "In the past,
the time has been 6 p.m.
This way, we hope
patrons will have' more
time to linger over supper
before they come to the
theatre to reserve their
seats. People who are
attending the Festival
Country Suppers • -on
Friday and Saturday
nights will be allowed to
reserve seats at 5:30p.m.
on those days."
However, as in past
years, advance tickets
will reserve admission
only, and no actual seat
reservations will be made
before 7 p.m. on the
performance date.
Although advance sales
are far ahead of last year,
last minute patrons need
not despair. For the first
'time, 30 "rush" tickets
for each show will go on
sale at 6:30 p.m. on the
day of performance, and
at 11:30 p.m. for matinee
performances. Seat
reservations for those
tickets will be made as
usual after 7 p.m. and
noon for matinees.
A number of Blyth and
area women will be very
busy this ,• summer
because of the immense
success of the Saturday
night suppers served
before the theatre during
the 1979 season of the
Blyth Summer Festival.
More suppers and' a lunch
before Thursday matinee
performances have been
added.
Every Friday and
Saturday night during the
season, theatre goers will
be able to partake of the
traditional meal of meat.
lots of salads, rolls, and
home baked desserts.
The dinners are served at
6 p.m. on those nights in a
number of community
and church halls in the
Blyth area. Asimilar'
meal is served at noon
before the Thursday
matinees.
Reservations must be
made at least two days in
advance of the supper
date, but as the suppers
are very popular, patrons
are advised to make their
reservations as far in
advance as possible. -

The OPP takes safe

all the words to this fine
song that he *rote far
back in '67.
Well, I'm just bustin'
my buttons to tell you"; is
My birthday. Most people
don't want to talk about
their birthdays after the
thirty-ninth but since I'rn
well past that one, I feel I
can brag alittle. •
There was the day
when I remember saying.
to my son, "Don't you
DARE tell them how old
you are,!", when they
were trying to find out my
"spent years",
Now I don't care
because he is in his fifties
and that makes me older
than the "second step",
49. F
Anyway, three
beautiful friends gave me
a surprise birthday
dinner party - which I will
remember for many
years, since it was the
first one in a long, long
time. Of coprse, you Can't
expect that s'ort of thing if

you're trying .to keep it

advice to you is let people
know about such won-
derful occasions - it
doesn't hurt a bit!
Today, win, lose or
draw, with a great team
we are competing in the
Lawn Bowling Provincial
Competitions. Whatever
happens it will be another
great experience.
Here we are! Canada
Week is upon us .and. if
you don't have a good
_time this coming week,
then you had better look
around and find the
reason.
Harbour Park will be
one busy place - music,
music, MUSIC! - besides
the . art work and crafts
and friends.
The Court House Park
will be busy - especially
Sunday morning with a
pancake brunch. Later,
from 4 to 7 p.rn., will be
• the Lions beef barbecue
and after that, the
Knights of Jazz will
entertain you.
At the airport will be
the big air show,
acrobatics in the air, sky
diving, rides and all those
great aircraft to see -
specials like the B-25,
P.51, Jet T33, and the
W.W. IAC. Confused?
Well, these aircraft are
very interesting and very
colorful - and we must
remember that many of
the real special paint jobs
are done right here in
Goderirh
The harbour too will be
real busy. The parking
for the Music Festival
will be down there with a
shuttle service taking you
up the hill (just like
Disney World!).
