The Industrial Faatball
League's Hotel Bedford
team is in a bit of a
slumb, losing four games
this week to Green and
Parent, McGee Pontiacs,
.Lakeport Steel, and
Ziebarts.
Hotel Bedford
managed only five hits in
° their 9-1 loss to Green and
Parent last Tuesday,
June 17. 1 The run came
from Terry Austin, who
stole a base on . his way
home in the sixth inning.
Pitcher for Bedford was
Ron Austin.
Four of G&P's runs
came during the third
inning when Leroy
Meriam, Bill Wraith, and
Darryl Beattie got hits,
and Jim Martin hit a
homer. Denis Miskie hit a
triple in the fifth when he
team scored alether
runs.
Pitcher for G&P was
Jim Martin.
Hotel Bedford lost
another one the next
night to McGee Pontiacs
14-5 in a make-up game
rained out on June 1.

and pitcher was Ron
Austin.
McGee pitcher -Den
Daer struck out four
batters and held Bedford
to seven hits. Daer was
also the most successful •
McGee hitter, scoring on
a double, a single, and a
past ball,
The third loss of the
week for Hotel Bedford
came on Sunday evening
to Lakeport Steel, the
final score being 10-3. The
first inning saw five runs
for Lakeport. Caren
Fielder scored twice for
Lakeport and also hit a
triple is the' last inning.
Pitching was Brian
McKenzie, who held
Bedford to six hits.
Terry Powell hit a
double and a triple for
Hotel Bedford, and
Charlie Crawford hit two
doubles.
Ziebart pitcher Simon
Langlois struck out nine
Hotel Bedford batters in
Bedford's 7-0 loss to
Ziebart on Monday. Hotel
Bedford got only four hits
in the game.
Ziebart's runs were
scattered throughout the
game with Greg Hansen,
Rick Duckworth, and Roy
Fisher especially suc-
cessful at the plate.
In other Industrial
League -action this -week?
French Cleaners beat
Gord's Sports 12-6 on
June 18. Six of the
Cleaners' runs came in
the first inning-, four in
the second, and two in the
sixth. Phil Turner hit one
over the fence for. the
Cleaners and he also hit a
double. Pitcher was Don
McWhinney.
Pitcher for Gord's
Sports was Dave Scholl,
who chalked up four
strike -outs and hit a
triple. Bob Riehl hit a
home run in the fifth,
batting in a run by
Warren. Watt.
Also on June 18, Fisher
Builders beat Ziebarts in
a close 4-3 game. Though
Fishers won, they only
got one hit and no runs
until the sixth inning
when all four runs were
Jack MacKinnon, Wally
Pierson, and Barry
Block. bong Fisher was'
pitcher, --
Ziebart pitcher Simon
Langlois struck but eight
Fisher batters ' and
allowed only four hits in
the heartbreaking loss.
Wayne Doak scored twice
for. Ziebarts, hitting two
triples. _ __
Ziebart won a game on
Sunday' night, however,
beating Green and
Parent by a score of 5-3.
Langlois dismissed five
batters at the plate and
also hit a home run in the
first inning bringing in
Wayne Doak, and scored
on a double in the third,
bringing in Doak again.
Darryl Beattie and Jim
Martin shared pitching
duties for G&P, and
Martin hit -a single and
scored on a triple in the
sixth inning.
Denis Miskie and Brian
Rumig also .scored for
G& P.
G&P held French Dry
Cleaners off on Monday
evening for most of the
game to beat them 8-6.
G&P were winning 8-1
after a scoring spree in
the fifth inning until the
last inning when the
Cleaners rallied for five
more runs.,
Roy Meriam and Bill
Wraith bit triples for
G&P, and Jim Martin
scored on a single and a
double. Martin also
.,pitched for G&P.
Don McWhinney, Bob.
Standen, and Jim
McCarthy took turns on
the mound for the '
Cleaners.

Maitland ladies hear from Fred and Paul

for "Ladies' Night".

After golfing, Fred
Looker and Paul Johnson
spoke to the gals on some
of the golf rules and
answered questions. That
.controversial screen on
number 2 which has more
interpretations than trees

behind it, was given a
thorough going over.
The men had 57 play on
Monday, June 16. The net
winners were John -
Hanly, Bill Hanly, Bill
Bradley, Phil Neal. Ross
Patterson, Paul Johnson,
Jack Gould, Bill Duncan,
Ebb Ross and Ralph
Neville.
The Hanlys added some
excitement with Bill and
son John tying so a
playoff was necessary. It
was on the second hole .

stroke. Congratulations

it is rurhored she was in
the river twice` She also
broke 90 for the first time.
Rene Neal was the
runner-up with a net
score , of 71.

After a nice,,supper at
the club, the'rladies ad-
journed to Shelagh
Sullyts where "Michigan
Rummy" was played
with much hooting and
hollering. In fact her
daughter had to phone
from a'friend's house and
ask the ladies not to sing
anymore!
Note that although the
next ladies' night falls on
Tuesday, July 1, holiday,
they will play as usual.
