Company received their Canada Cords ding a
special ceremony on Monday evening. The Canada
Coad Is the highest award in Guiding. Several other
Girl Guides received their all Round Cords, -Lite
second highest award, during the same evening. They
were Lisa Baechler, Pam Bender, Lisa Phillips, Lisa
Morgan, Jennifer Peters, Cindy Sully, Louse

Rec board finalizes plans for barbecue

The June recreation
meeting for Goderich
township was held
Wednesday June 13 at
Holmesville with all
members' present: Doug
Yeo, Hazel McCreath.

The softball committee
secretary, Pat Rivett.

give the :softball report
She pr-sentew the pur-
chasing bill for softball
equipment, and many
queries for the rec
committee to consider for
future softball planning.
They were, softball in-
surance coverage on
transportation to and
from games away, size of
the head softball com-
mittee, inadequate
climate and security
conditions ' at the
-equipment• building, and -
the softball committees
not clearly understanding
the rules set down by the
rec committee.%
She also reported that
103 children have
registered for softball.

beginning involving afew
fights. not by the children
but -by adults who will
cause. a bad twsp. image
should it happen again.
The rec committee
thanked*- "Pat- for •her
report and hoped that the
problems could be
resolved and another
successful program could
be managed this sum-
mer.
It was decided that
Marilyn Forbes would try
to get forms immediately
and a request made for a
Wintario grant or. the
softball equipment.
Pat Rivett also
presented'a proposal on
behalf • of softball corn-
mi:tee meinber. Art Bell,
for a softball tournament
to officially open the new
softball field. The
proposal had beer" well
planned for a full day of
softball: games involving
a.. groups Jr. the softball
circuit. :Medallions '.were
to be presented to the

for his enthusiastic and
ambitious plans.
However the board
passed a motion that the
softball committee
consider a limited ball
-tourn-arrient •for- this -year
(since the softball field
conditions need a little '
time to mature before a
special -opening" ). The
rec committee suggested
in"the same motion that
this, limited tournament
be self supporting, at no
cost to the twsp. one age
group only. food booths
would be'ail.right. the rec
committee would try to
help at this event. that it
not be advertised as the
-opening- of the softball
-field. This motion was
made - by Gerry Ginn,
seconded by Jake Reder,
Carried.
Secretary Hazel
McCreath reported that
she had. received only 19
swimming applications,
far short of last years
number. Although the
deadline for registrations
has passed. the com-
mittee decided to accept
further registrations until
June 30. The swimming
classes will take place at
Vanas:ra June 30 -July .,
9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. The
transportation ••w:il be •by
bus following a route
from the V.L.A. at 8:3u
a.m., along Highway 21,'
the outline, Holmesville
and Highway 8. $20 per
child with a maximum of
$55 per family.
In new business, it was
agreed to make a twsp. •
float • for the Goderich
Canada Day Parade,
June 29th. Jake Reder
volunteered to be .in
charge of this. Decision
'fore -a- float,' for • the
Dungannon parade, Aug.
2nd, will be made later.
No word of the summer
games at •Goderich had
been received by the
secretary, so no action
could be taken.here..

mittee was asked to
present a fall rec
program -proposal for the
next meeting. Some
suggestions were given .

At a. spacial meeting of
Goderich Township
Council` on Rine 9, a
motion was passed to
have Muer Construction
Company proceed with
the drawing of specific
plans and line drawings
for a township hall of 50
feet by 25 feet with the
intended purpose of
signing a contract.
Present at the meeting
besides the councillors
were Casey Dendekker of
Muer Construction
Company and local
engineer Ken Dunn. Mr.
Deridekker presented

estimates on various
options.
At a regular council
meeting on June 16, Don
Bosman requested in-
formation regarding
building permits for 17
acres on part lot 21,
concession 9. No motions
were recorded.
Gary Davidson, Huron
County planner, was
present to discuss zoning
and order 749-73 , in
particular. Council -'ap-
proved the suggestion
that order -49-73 be
removed.
Casey Dendekker
presented revised plans
for the township hall at a
stated price of $209,742
for the building • only.
Council passed a motion
to agree to sign a contract
with Muer Construction
Company as per prices
and options quoted
subject to the approval of
Ken Dunn and the Huron
County Health Unit.
An application for a tile
drain loan was approved
by council for . George
Sager for '$; ,900 on pan
lot 15 Huron Road.
