Colborne couple celobrate
5Oth wedding an'nveiary
Watson of R.R.6 Goderich
celebratedtheir 50th
wedding anniversary on
Sunday, June 15 as guests
at a family anniversary
dinner at • the home of
their daughter, Mrs.
Harold (Jean) Schroeder
in Dashwood with 21
immediate relatives
present.
It was on June 14, 1930
that Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Watson (nee Olive Black)
were united in marriage
by the Reverend Lundy at
the Nile parsonage. After
a short honeymoon in
Niagara Falls, Mr. and
Mrs. Watson returned to
their farm at R.R.6
Goderich where they still
reside.
- -M-> and- M-r-s.—Watson
have two daughters, Mrs.
Earl (Frances) Shelby of
Bayfield, and Mrs.
Harold (Jean) Schroeder
of Dashwood. A son, Ivan,
was killed in an accident
in 1967. They have 10
grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Watson
are well known in
Colborne Township and
district and are wished
many more happy years
together.
RECREATION'
MEETING
Colborne Township
Recreation Committee
met in Colborne Town-
ship Hall on Monday,
June 16 and report
considerable important
business attended to.
Baseball is on now but
more parents or in-
terested adults are
needed to help w.th the
games as some of the
teams are quite large.
Please offer to help.
T -Ball is going to be
held every Wednesday
evening during July and
August and will com-
mence Wednesday, July 2'
at 7 p.m. at Benmiller.
Sharon Brindley will be
the coach and if in-
terested, contact Sharon
or the Recreation
Committee or be at
Benmiller on July 2 at 7
p.m.
Swimming registration
has' to be in before school
closes. There has been a
splendid response' and
plans are being finalized,
so "contact Helen Fisher

Feagan at 524-6491. More
supervisors are required
at the pool for the
swimming so. if you can
possibly help in this
important recreation,
please do so.
Colborne Township is
planning to enter a float
in the , Dungannon bir-
thday parade on Satur-
day, August 2. Ideas for
the float will be welcome
so please bring., your
suggestions to the next
recreation meeting on
Monday, July 19 or
contact Leonard Fisher
at 524-8039.

together on Thursday,
June 12 when they
celebrated their annual
Sunshine Sister banquet
with a delicious dinner

Women's Institute.
President, Mrs. R.
Buchanan, presided and
after all joining in the
Institute Grace, mem-
bers and guests were
welcomed.
During the meal the
usual friendly visiting
and humorous chatter
was enjoyed. Mrs. Molly
Sutton thanked the
Dungannon Institute
ladies for the lovely meal
and Mrs. Ella Bogie gave
a splendid report of the
morning session of the
Huron West Women's
Institute District Annual
held in Goderich
recently.
Mrs. Maitland Mon-
tgomery had the lucky
cup and Miss Helen
Fulford, who now resides
at Maitland Manor and
was able .to be present,
received a gift of an
African Violet for having
a birthday closest to this
date.
As usual, there is
considerable enjoyment
and humour in finding out
one's Sunshine Sister for
the year as she presents
you with a corsage and
gift. Members start
another year with new
Sunshine Sisters to
remember with cards for
special occasions during
the year.

CLINTON - People from
Thunder Bay to Peelee
Point will be watching
Clinton and area people
on June 26 if they have
their televisions tuned
into the Wintario draw.
Plans are finalized and
everyone is preparing for
Clinton's debut on the TV
screen when Wintario
comes to the Clinton
Community Centre to
televise a draw. Clinton is
also receiving the special
privilege of helping
Wintario celebrate its
150th draw and fifth year
of operation and a gala
birthday party is planned
for the evening.
The evening will get
underway at 7:30 pm with
a program of local en-
tertainment and Fred
Davis and Faye Feare
will host the televised
draw at 9 pm.
Admission to the
program is $2 and tickets
can be purchased at
regular Wintario outlets.
Proceeds • from the
evening will go towards
the new town swimming
pool.
Fair realizes profit
CLINTON - Despite some
of the worst weather
conditions in nearly a
decade, organizers of the
126th, 'Clinton Spring Fair
say the three-day. event
was a success, drawing
nearly as many people as
last year's crowd.
Fair board president
Dave Dalzell said the fair
may realize a small profit
of $3,000 which will help
reduce- the board's deficit
of $9,000.
