The service was under -the direction of the minister, Richard Hawley assisted by the Reverend Scottv-ofLon- des boro. A luncheon for the new members and their families was held following the service. The congregation was reminded that the service of baptism will be ob- served next week. June 15 will be a special service when the Auburn Sunday School will present the morning worship in honour of the, 200th anniversary of the establishment of Sunday Schools. It is hoped that parents and friends of the Sunday School children will come out to this special service. -two people join Rick Hawley , and grandchildren, Beth and Achy Hawley. Mutch of London visited last Thursday with Mrs. Albert McFarlane. James Schneider and son Dennis attended the Father and Son Boy Scout banquet at Londesboro last week. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Levangie and Brent of Vancouver visited last week—with Mrs. Myrtle Munro. Mrs. Beth Lansing and Mrs. Myrtle Munro at- tended the Spring meeting for retired teachers at the. White Carnation last Monday. Dr. Angela Armitt of London, head of Summer. School, University of Western Ontario was the guest speaker. They were entertained by the Holmesville elementary school band. Plan to attend the meeting. •and give your support on Monday, June 16at8p.m. 4-H NEWS The third meeting of Tiger Dunlop Group 1, "Wild Flowers", was held Monday, June 2 at 7 p.m. at Carlow Hall. The meeting was opened with, the Pledge. Teresa Cannon read the rrlinut.es. of last meeting and Rhonda Bean adopted the minutes as rgad and Lisa Dougherty seconded them. The members discussed..pians for .their. hike and camp out and decided to have this at Maitland Conservation Area on June 26 and 27. The members then learned several new exercises after which the leaders helped them fill in answers about foodand first aid. The leaders demonstrated artificial respiration and then the members learned it. The meeting was closed with Tracy Hill reading the Creed. The next meeting will be held Monday, June 9 at Colborne Township Hall, Carlow, at 7 p.m. Ure Stewart of Seaforth visited one day last week with Mrs. Myrtle Munro and also her sister, Mrs. Ethel McDougall from Clinton. Public Hospital where she underwent surgery last Friday. She is wished a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Youngblut of Woodstock visited last Saturday with Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson and Misses Ella and Minnie Wagner. Mr. and Mrs. George Robb, Heather and Michael of London visited with relatives in the village last weekend. Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock was a guest last Tuesday evening at the Brownie Mother and Daughter banquet held in Blyth. WALKERBURN CLUB The Walkerburn Club held its May meeting last week at the home Of Mrs. Marian' Hunking. Mrs, Tom Cuhriiiigh`am opened' the meeting with a poem, "Who Makes a Garden?" Plans were made to hold the June 24 meeting at 2 p.m... at the home of Mrs. Roy Daer with the program to be in the charge of Mrs. Ted Hunking and Mrs. Keith Lapp. The lunch com- mittee will include Mrs. Elliott Lapp and Mrs. Garth McClinchey. -Mrs. Leonard Archambault read a poem, A Course in Public Relations. A good auction sale of plants, bulbs and slips was conducted by Mrs. Ronald. Gross acting as auctioneer, Mrs. Joe flunking donated a gift for the Dutch auction and the winner was Mrs. Garth McClinchey. Lunch was served by Mrs. Keith Lapp, Mrs. Ted Hunking and the hostess, Mrs. Marian Hunking. LIONS CLUB The Auburn and District Lions Club held its meeting in the Community ••Memorial Hall with the president, Lion Bill Crawford, in the chair. Seventeen members were present and they were served dinner by the Auburn Presbyterian W.M.S. group. The secretary, Lion Bob Worse)1, read the minutes which were adopted on motion of Lion A--- Bill Crawford, seconded by Lion Steve Campbell. It was announced that the Auburn and District Lions Club would be p participating in two local slo-pitch tournaments. Plans for the ladies' baseball tournament are proceeding well. The new officers for 198041 will be inducted at the first meeting in June. Ladies' night will be the last.xneeting in June. Greeters at the door were Don and Allison Lobb and their children Robin, Laurie and Sandra, and the ushers were Shelley Crawford, Tracy Nor; map, Steven Preszcator, Dennis Thompson. Rea ing the lesson was He Harris. First scr pture lesson was read by Frank Schloendorf; second scripture read by Janine Mayhew. A prayer was said by Tim Mayhew. Hugh Lobb introduced the guest speaker, Rev. Stan McDonald, while Traverse Bell thanked Rev. McDonald. The Sunday School thanks all who have supported our work through the use of the special envelopes today.
