Irvine Eedy was a capable

in which the answers were
names of vegetables. Mrs.
Elsie Irvin gave .a reading
about what it might have
been like when Marvin went
courting.
Mrs. Mary Bere read an
address to the couple and
Mel Jones and Herb Finni-
gan made the presentation of
a gift of folding chairs.
Howard Godfrey provided
music on his guitar through
the . evening and later : Mr.
George Cowan led a sing
song accompanied by How -
1 and with the guitar and John
Park on the piano.
The new neighbours, Mike
and Cathy Moran and baby,
Derek were welcomed to the
community. Mike's parents,
Alvin and Joyce Moran, who
moved to Joseph Street last
year, were also welcomed
and had a chance to meet
their neighbours. A very
pleasant evening ended with
a delicious lunch being serv-

Congratulations to, Mr.
and Mrs. John Anderson
(Theresa Hubei•), on the
birth of a new daughter, in
Goderich hospital, on Wed-'
nesday, May 28. Ninth
grandchild for Mr. and Mrs.
Bus Anderson and nine-
teenth great grandchild for
Mrs. Tom Park. Quite a. thing
to happen in one family, is
that Mrs. Park has a great
granddaughter born on May
26, 1980, a grandson on May
27, 1974 and a great grand-
daughter on May 28,'1980.
May is a busy month for their
family.
Alvin and Joyce Moran are
grandparents again for the
fifth time, as their daughter,
Brenda and husband, Steven
Wylds of Ashfield, became
proud parents of a new baby
girl on Friday, May 30 at
Goderich hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Moran
and baby son, Derek moved
into their new home on
Joseph Street, W. on Satur-
day. Marvin and Evelyn
Smith •left on Saturday morn-
ing for Chatham where they
have taken an apartment.
Mrs. Amy Wiggins is a
patient in Wingham hospital
since Tuesday of last week
with a heart problem. Her
heart is being monitored and

Jack and Eileen Curran
were surprised on Sunday,
June 'I, "1980 when their
family, grandchildren, great
grandchildren and friends
gathered at their home on
Stauffer Street, Lucknow, to
celebrate their 45th wedding
anniversary. -
Sixty people attended from
Goderich, Dungannon. Luck -
now and Kingston. All enjoy-
ed a Kentucky Fried Chicken
dinner.
The fainily presented them
with a patio table and um-
brella. Numerous cards and
phone calls were... received
from Hagersville. Kitchener,
Plattsville, Dungannon, God-
erich and Lucknow.
'Jack and Eileen have four
sons, four daughters, 15
grandsons; 15 granddaught-
ers, two great granddaught-
ers and one great grandson.
Jack's sister, Dorothy An-
derson also called on them.

On June 1, the Aigoway
arrived. in Goderich light
from Green Bay and
cleared for Sanduskey,
Ohio the next day with.- a
load of salt.
In grain boat activity,
the `Elgianni came to
Goderich May 31 for the
first time from Montreal
for a load of corn.
On June 1, the D.C.
Everest arrived here
from Thunder Bay
carrying grain and left,
light, the same day for
Marathon.

encouraging sign that soccer
is catching on in this area.

Mrs, Sue McDonald and
friend, Kathy Fehr of Kitch-
ener visited on Sunday with
Sue's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Godfrey.
Mrs. Cecil Blake was a
guest of Mr. and Mrs. David
Kirkland, Lucknow, on Sun-
day for a family gathering in
honour of Mrs. Gordon Kirk -
land's birthday.
Gerald Shackleton is a
patient in Wingham and
District Hospital since last
week, after being sick at
home for four weeks. Friends
and relatives of the Shackle-
ton family assisted them by
sowing their crops for which
the Shackleton family is very
grateful.

On Thursday night, ' the
Dungannon soccer team trav-
elled to Colborne to play.
They were defeated by a
score of 3 to 1. The score
after the first half was 2 - 0 in
favour of Colborne. Dungan-
non came back strong in the
second half but couldn"t
score a goal.

Dungannon "Beez" travel-
led to Port Albert where they
were defeated by the Port
Albert girls 26, - 23. Dun-
gannon's As alto lost to
Kintall by a 36-15 score at
the Dungannon diamond.

meet Kingsbridge at Dun-
gannon while the As meet
West Wawanosh girls on
June 11 at Dungannon.

On Monday, May 25th the
children who start to kinder-
garten in the fall came to
school for a readiness -survey
conducted by the county con-
sultants and designed to
show a child's strengths and
weaknesses pertaining to
his/her readiness to learn at
school..
On Tuesday, May 26, Mr.
Hazlitt's grade 7 class went
to Bruce Agripark just north
of Kincardine. Mr. Van Tuyl
showed the students around.
Later they saw a film and had
a bus tour of the site.
The Regional Field Day
was held at Brookside on
Thursday, May„29 with stud-
ents from Colborne, Robert-
son, Victoria and Brookside
Each of the winners will
receive a medallion.
Final examinations for
grades 7 and 8 begin on June
3.

UNITED CHURCH
Mt. George Cowan spoke
on "Pentecost - Then and
Now", in which he explained
how the gifts of the Holy
Spirit come to individuals in'
different ways, giving some
the power to speak in ton-
gues, others the power of
healing, ^of wisdom, etc.
Pentecost is traditionally the
seventh Sunday after Easter
and is told of in the Bible as
the time when the Holy. Spirit
came upon the disciples.

Three. The choir sang - the
anthem, My Mother's Fray-
ers.
Choir practice is on Thurs-
day evening for regular choir
and on Sunday for the men to
practice for Father's Day.
There must 'be some good
niale voices in the congrega-
tion. Let them stand up and
sing for Father's Day.
The Sunday School teach-
ers wish to thank those who
rode in the Bikeathon on
Saturday and those , who
sponsored the riders.
The women of the U.C.W.
and Willing Workers spent
two busy days at the church
last week cleaning and left
„everything shining and spot-
less, even the 'remote cup-,
board spaces. The congrega-
tion ts-ggratefutftsr the dedi-
cation and love for the church
shown by these women.
Congratulations are ex-
tended to our central treas-
urer, Mr. Thomas Webster,
who celebrated a special
birthday this week. Mr.
Webster has been treasurer
of the Dungannon church for
over 40 years and is the only
central treasurer the Dun-
gannon -Nile charge has had.
We wish him many more
years of good health.
