Victoria Blackstone Crooke turned 95 years old on Saturday, May 24, Since she
was born on,,Queen Victoria's birthday, her parents, the late Charles and Matilda
Blackstone, named her after the queen. Mrs. Crooke says perhaps she owes her
long life to the good, fresh air of Lake Huron. She also says that nature has been -
good to her. Mrs. Crooke played the violin until after she was 80, having spent 10
years In the Hamilton Symphony. For many years she al SO played in a local
family group known as Blackstone's Orchestra. She says her sister, her three
brothers and herself were all 'just naturally musical". (Photo by Joanne
