na'n_About
I have_ been trying to
cateb pp on nay little
tours that, seem to be part
of my life, anymore.
The other day I went
down the north road and
was surprised to see the
string of cars on the side
of the road and groups of
&Tien here and there.
Finally I had to ask,
"What's happening?"
Several of the boys spoke
to me - but withall-the
beards, I couldn't put a
name on any of them.
It is too bad so many
are losing their identity,
more or less, and just
becoming one of the
crowd. Come on fellas,
let's have less look-alikes
and more individuals.
- So, to continue my
tours - the old E.B.
TBaher was pia -frig up
salt and someone aboard
decided to play with the
horn. He had people
running to the top of the
hill all around the har-
bour and cars flying down
to the wharf. What
happened?
Apparently nothing -
just someone trying out a
few different tunes on the
horns. Not funny!
More and more people
WED THRU TUES
MORNING
are discovering they
must see how terrible the
real old jails used to be.
Actually, ,I think if some
of the saboteurs and
miserable -type offenders
were locked up for just a
couple of nights in that
old place, they would be
good the rest of their
lives !
Amway, if yolu have i't
visited the old jail and
that lovely old house, you
should do it soon and you
won't need to stand in
line.
Do, you play euchre?
There's nothing like a
good game of thumpin'
euchre to raise your
spirits - without spirits.
Today 'I was feeling
pretty low, I had word
early this morning _that a
dear friend had slept
away - quietly. This is
always a shock for
relatives and friends and
I just couldn't get myself
going. But lunchtime at
the Signal - after about 15
minutes of munching -v
gets pretty noisy at times
and d filled in with the
euchre table and the
noise increased. You get
four people who don't
have to sit and stare at
five cards for five
minutes and things get
pretty lively. Anyhow - it
was just what the doctor
would have ordered and I
feel much better now.
I have known Isabel
Riehl since about the day
we landed in Goderich.
She and Don were
friendly, down-to-earth
people and we have en-
joyed them all these
years. Addie was
bright-eyed on -the -go
little girl, then - she
hasn't changed over the
years. Joe was a shy little•
tyke and Bob was the
cutest kid and he took a
shine to "Wa-at".
Couldn't seem to find that
'1' for the word. There
was an awful lot of love in
that household and it
meant a. lot 'to me, so far
away from home.
Some people splurge
and fuss and make a big
show of love - I like the
kind you can feel when
you enter their home.
Solid, honest folks who
always made you feel
welcome.
Isabel, with her
priceless Smile - always
ready to tackle anything
that came, along - was

Our Recreation
Committee has a great
program lined .up for the
summer. They are trying
to provide you with
adequate opportunities to
take part in and enjoy
your recreation time and •
the facilities provided for
you.
You just have to call
them if you're in doubt
about what's happening.
There are many ser-
vices open - for example,
leadership training and
guidance to recreation
groups, some financial
assistance to ' non-profit
recreation organizations.
Lotsof reference
materials on sports,
crafts, leadership,
theatre and a variety of
other activities. You can
talk to them regarding
any of this material.
There are buildings
operated by the
recreation department
where meeting space and
storage areas are
available to recreation'
groups. You just have to
tell them your ideas and
plans and they will find a
way to help you get things
going.
So, they are really
trying and you can't beat
that.
They have brochures
and booklets telling of the
summer events Which
you can pick up at the
main building above the
grandstand.
