Need
some
help
this
year.
Breritda Clutton has just completed a two year
course at Centralia College in Community Home
Economics. As well as studying Psychology,
Communications, Instructional Media, cooking and
sewing, Brenda spent quite a bit of time working
with the elderly in nursing homes, working in
nursery schools and working with all ages of the
mentally handicapped. She especially enjoys
working with children and would like to work in a
nursery school or with mentally handicapped
children this summer. If you have a job for Brenda
or for any student, call the Canada Employment
Centre for Students in Goderich at 524-2744,

coming from as far away
as Toledo, Ohio and and
Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Over 500 hotel and motel
rooms within a 60 mile•
radius of here have been
booked for them and
some will bring their own •
motor homes and cam-

of the town. Food will also
be available at the
Clinton fairgrounds but
many others will eat in
local restaurants.
Leroy Harrison of
Goderich, co-ordinator of
the ceremonial which has
been planned for the last
18 months,•• expects that
about $100,000 will be
dropped in this area by
visiting Shriners.
A second parade will be
held at 3 p.m. in Clinton
followed by the second
section of the induction
ceremony and an open
dinner -dance at 7 p.m.
The two parades are
each expected,. to last

cycles, mini -cars and a
marching unit of war
veterans known as the
Legion of Honor.
Donations to the Shrine

These books will be sold
to both Shriners and the
public. Editor of the book,
Stan Wheeler of
Goderich, says the book
includes messages from
the heads of the various
Masonic bodies and from
some of the country's
elected representatives;
information about Shrine
activities; information
about the Shrine
Hospitals and Burns
Institutes•; a history •of
the Bluewater Shrine
Club; articles about the
children who have
benefitted from the
Shrine Hospitals; and the
stories of the York Rite -
and Scottish Rite,
Masonic Bodies.
Illustrious Potentate of
Mocha Temple, Spence
Curnmings takes this
opportunity to tell
parents and doctors that
the Shriners are always.
looking for patient
referrals. Since Canada
has socialized medecine
and the U.S. is going that
route too, Mr. Cummings
says the Shrine Hospitals
are losing patients and
many are converting to
research centres.
Some very important
research has come out of
the Shrine Hospitals. Of
11 papers accepted from
Canadian sources at a
recent orthopedic con-
ference in Europe, seven
of them were presented
by doctors from the
Montreal 'Shriners
Hospital for Crippled
Children. One of the'main
projects at the Montreal
hospital being conducted
right now on behalf of all
the Shriners Hospitals is
to find a cure for
rheumatoid arthritis in
children, says Mr.
Cummings.
Recently a letter was
written to the editor of an
Indianna newspaper by
an appreciative mother
who said her son is a
Shrine child, having
spent three weeks in the
Chicago Shriners
Hospital. She explained •
that her son is walking on
both feet (with the help of
braces) for the first time
in 17• months now with
therapy to.. continue for
many months.
"We know the Shriners
are there with their
helping hands; .a whole
lot of love in their hearts;
and are making this
world a better world for
our children," she writes.
"Thank you and God
Bless all of you wonderful
men in those funny hats,"
she concludes. -
Say farmers will
benefit by assistance
Farmers will now
benefit from a provincial,
program allowing them a
three percent subsidy for
interest on loans up to
$50,000. The farmer's
debt-to-equity ratio must
be 50 percent or higher to
qualify.
This is a resialT of O?A
pressure on the gover-
nments for assistance.
•Gerry Fortune, first vice-
president of the Huron
County Federation of
Agriculture, says about
the 30 million dollar fund;
"It's going to help some
people in the short term.
It gives a• breating
space. But what's going
to happen at the end of
December when the
subsidy i§ lifted?
"What we need is long
term commitment from
the government which we
haven't received in the
past. We need ueip to
solve the problem of high
input costs and low return
for our commodities."
The mechanics of the.
program will be
developed next week by a
joint committee com-
posed of OFA
repre-sentatives,.
