Arid Vanden Berg of the Christian Reformed Church in Clinton. Alice M. Hekman of jenison, Mich. was the Matron of Honour and the best man was Henry Hennink of Cambridge. After the ceremony, a buffet style dinner was served at the new home of the bride and groom. Daughters of the groom, Angela Lynn and Jennifer Dawn Bos assisted the bride in opening gifts following the dinner. Guests were in attendance from. Toronto, Sarnia, London, Wallaceburg, Cambridge and Michigan. The couple is now residing at RR 2, Goderich. MR. AND MRS. BILL VAN OENEN Couple married at Thunder Pay. Theresa Vis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Vis of Thunder Bay and Bill Van Oenen, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Van Oenen of Goderich were married on Thursday, April 3 in the First Christian Reformed Church of Thunder Bay with the Reverend Nutma officiating. Lucia Vis of Thunder Bay, sister of the bride, was maid of honour. Jo Vettema, friend of the bride, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Marjorie Siertsema, niece of the groom, of Auburn were bridesmaids. Gary Van Oenen of Goderich, brother of the groom, was best man. Dirk • Vis of Kincardine and Wilfred Vis of Thunder Bay, brothers of the bride, were ushers. Showers were given by the staff of Maitland Manor Nursing Home and by the ladies of Goderich Christian Reformed Church prior to the wedding. Venturers certificates The Goderich Ven- turers group was awarded second place certificates in the national Amory Adventure Trophy compeitition. Assistant provincial commiiiioner, Doug Hancock was in Goderich Sunday to award the second place certificates to nine members of the Goderich group. The nine members of the Goderich group are Rick Alcock, Kevin Bundy, Tony Dierolf, George Dierolf, Dave harmon, Kevin Huyck, Paul Mansz, Glen Gosse and Doug Thompson. The Amory Adventure Award is a large trophy offered annually to ,a venturer group for their initiative and resour- cefulness in an outdoor project. The venturers must plan the project, Orrs lead Courts Sister Beverley Orr „._ was installed as president of Court Fascination L1901 of the Canadian Foresters on April 23 at Benmiller. Brother Charles Orr is Chief Ranger of Court Benmiller L86. It is believed that this is the first time a husband and wife team have headed the two Beniniller courts. The installation ceremony was performed by District Deputy Sister Doreen Willis and her High Marshall, Sister Eleanor Fisher. Other' officers installed were: past president, Sister Isabelle Eedy; chaplain, Sister Karen Webster; recording secretary, Sister .; Phyllis Cox; warden, Sister Ber- nadette Smith; con- ductor, Sister. Leone Robertson; inner guard, Bay.Citif lodge friends here The Bluewater Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star hosted the. Temple Glen Chapter No. 125 from Bay City,' Michigan last Wed-.. nesday, May 7 for their first ever 'Friendship Night'. Vernon Royer, Associate Grand Patron of the Michigan chapter and Dorthea Kelly, WM-thy Matron, ac- companied by 32 mem- bers arrived in Goderich Wednesday afternoon. After a short bus tour around Goderich, the visitors went to the Huron Historic Gaol, and also did some shopping. His Worship -M-a-yor Harry Worsell, a member of the Bluewater Chapter, gave a welcoming ad- dress at the potluck dinner that evening. After the dinner, the groups were entertained by highland dancer Carrie Crawford, and the Craig -Ellen singers. Then followed the Friendship Night meeting in the Masons Lodge Room on •West Junior Farmers honored KINCARDINE - The Ripley Junior Farmers have shown top acting ability and recently won first prize in a province - wide competition. At the same meeting, $100 was donated to Marilyn Cox to help with her Crossroads Africa project in the West Indies. take part in it and prepare a report. The local group planned and participated in a backpacking trip along the Bruce Trail from Tobermory to Lions head. They took the trip last July and were under no leadership. The project is up to their own discretion. The first place winners was a group from Toronto who went on a trip to the west coast for a month. But the planning, trip and initiative shown by the Goderich group was worthy enough to rate second in Canada behind a Toronto group. The Goderich Ven- turers are planning a trip to the national Jamboree in Alberta next year. Each member received a certificate of achievement. District Commissioner for scouting, Walter Thomas and Assistant Provincial Commissioner for Venturers, Dave Bushell were on hand. Assistant District Commissioner, Ken Cutt and Bruce Vance are the directors of the Goderich Venturers.
