The Goderich K-40 Club., an auxlljary Club of the Kinsmen, received its charter at an inter -club dinner on May 3- Although the K-40 Club was originally formed in 1964 by the late Pat Patterson, it had never been officially chartered. resenting the charter cin May V were District Governor Mike Hoyles, National Director Ross Rowe, and Deputy Governor of Zone K Gerry Paolin. A scrap- book of past K-40 events was also presented. . The K-40 Club' has 33 members. Fritz Basler is president, Tom Shackleton is first vice- president and Bill Lougheed- treasurer. o.ugheed-treasurer. The main thrust behind the K-40 Club is to con- tinue the fellowship found in the Kinsmen Club for those members 40 years of age and over. LIONS CLUB The Auburn and District Lions Club met last week in the Com- munity Memorial Hall with 11 members present. The dinner was served by a Unit of the Knox United Church Women. The meeting was chaired by vice-president, Lion Walter Mafchl. The secretary, Lion Bob Worsell gave his "report which was ac- cepted -on motion of Lion Walter Marchi, seconded by Lion Donald Haines. . The treasurer, Lion Jim Schneider gave the financial statement stating that a good profit was, realized from the refreshment booth at the. canoe races on May 4. Plans were completed for the rummage sale and home bake sale. A donation was given to the Lake St. Joseph camp for the blind. Plans were started for another New Yeari's party and dance and the band is being booked now The meeting was ad- journed on motion of Lion Eldon. Chamney, seconded by Lion Ken Scott. CEMETERY BOARD The Trustee Board of Ball's Cemetery met recently to accept with regret, the resignation of Chairman Norman McDowell and trustee , Robert Arthur. Both men have served this- board for more than 20 years. Fire guts bus LUCKNOW - One school bus was gutted by fire and another found abandoned after they were stolen on May 2 from the Montgornery Motors parking lot in Lucknow. The Goderich OPP found one bus the same night abandoned on Concession 12 ,of Ashfield Township. The second bus was discovered the next day, destroyed by fire, on a West W awanosh sideroad off Concession 6. Both vehicles were owned by Gordon T. Mon- tgomery Ltd., Wheels in walk BRUSSELS - Sandra Thompson participated in the recent Bluevale walk- a-thon in a unique way. She completed half the course in a wheelchair. Sandra set her goal to complete five miles of the 10 mile course and she did exactly that. Ron Adams, who started out on his walk with about $745 in pledges resting on him also completed the course in an unusual way. 'He took up a challenge and crossed the finish line pushing a baby buggy, complete with baby. He wound up with ap- proximately $800 in pledges.
