economics classes were taken on a bus tour of Huron County on Wed- nesday which was arranged by -the -associate Agricultural Representative for the county, Mr. Harold Baker. Among the sights and stops was a tour of radio station CKNX in Wingham and the cheese factory in Blyth. 5 YEARS AGO Keith Roulston, editor of Blyth Standard and the Village Squire, is branching into another area of publishing. A new tabloid, called the Rural Voice, will be available at the end of this month. He said he sees his paper as competition for the Western Ontario Farmer. Finding a summer job is no easy task, but there wil be more student jobs available this year due to the efforts of Gary Walden and Mary Anne Gielen of the Student Manpower Centre. The two, who have been busy since January' can- vassing local employers for prospective job op- portunities, are setting up a student office at the corner of Kingston and Victoria streets. Eugene Whelan, the Minister of Agriculture, announced that the Farm Credit Corporation will be more flexible in its dispensation ' of loans to young farmers. He said that the $100,000 credit ceiling is too low for beginning farmers and that an amendment to this law now allows for credit up to $150,000. The amendment was con- structed as an incentive to make people under 35 years of age look more closely at the farming business. pigatmon: Dear l!d.ttt'1 You :may remember thate ye,alrs. .ago, starting 41 1975, with help from your newspaper, from newspapers here and the B.B.C., I twinned our Dungannon in Tyrone, 1`I. Ireland, with your Dungannon in Ontar io. Through a series of open letters published in your columns, I was able to establish contact with many of your readers and put them in touch with people here. For myself, I have made many strong and lasting friendships and in 1976, during a trip to London, England, had dinner with Mrs. Orma Murdoch now of Toronto but formerly from the Dungannon area in Ontario. I have kept up a regular correspondence with many others in Goderich, L,ucknow., Dungannon, Auburn, Ripley, Weston, Islington, Teeswater and Toronto, coming to feel as though I've known them all my life. Now I would like you to know that through Mrs. Marie V. Park of the Dungannon Celebration Committee, I have ac- cepted an invitation to represent our town at the 125th Birthday Celebrations of Tlungat►non, Ontarlo,. _,< from August 1 to August 4.. I hope there will be. other representatives from here, though at -the moment, this is. not clear. I have written open letters to all our newspapers, local and major to publicize this Anniversary andhave also approached the B.B.C. and U.T.V., suggesting a link -up, Dungannon to Dunganhon, during the festivities. Your C.B.C. might think this a good idea and lend its support. Perhaps you would be kind enough to present me with Celebration editions of your newspaper and press photographs for _..publiea.tion here in_ Northern Ireland. We're very proud that the Founder of Dungannon, Ontario came from our Dungannon in Tyrone all those years ago. I leave here for Toronto by air on July 28 and return on August 18 which will give me time to meet many, many of your readersand see something of your country. I look forward with pleasure and ex- citement to the prospect. With best' wishes to you all until we meet, • Yours faithfully, Mrs. Mollie Whiteside Looking for kin Dear Editor, • Someone is interested in locating relatives or anyone knowing descendants of MARKS family from County Cork, Ireland. They commenced to work at Guelph Junction. The cement foundation for the North Street Methodist -Church is nearly finished, and the Masons are pushing the work so as to have everything ready for the laying of the corner stone on Victoria Day. On Tuesday, on The Square, as a bus was being turned sharply around, two . girls on.. bicycles met the 'team, and they were so close together that lookers on feared a collision, but the skill of the driver and presence of mind of the girls saved an accident, a bicycle only being upset. The fall of snow on Tuesday morning was a light one, and soon melted away. 25 YEARS AGO Last Friday, Town Council' approved a by- law granting $40,000 for the paving of the square. Indications are that the hub of the town will be paved by July.
