On Tuesday evening,
the fire brigade turned
out in quick time and had
a short practice on South
Street. J.A. Stewart,
inspector for the Sun Fire
Insurance Company, was
in town, hence no doubt a
practice call.
Caretaker Watt is
greatly improving ' the
Court House Park, and
the work he has done and
is doing should be
protected. People who do
not pass through on the
gravel walks will pay
dearly for their folly, as
prosecutions' will cer-
tainly follow all
violations.
Go to hear the
Reverend Donald
MacGillivary's latern
lecture on "Facing Death
in China" to be given in
Knox church on the
evening of May 8. A silver
collection will be taken at
the door in aid of the
funds of the MacGillivary
Mission Band.

Yearly

CLINTON - In an attempt
to activate community
spirit and promote the
tewrr, --p-1-ales are—i-n--the--
works
-he-works to create a yearly
festival for Clinton.
The Clinton Business
Association and in-
terested people in the
area are developing the
concept of a Klompen
Feest to be staged in 1981.
The Klompen Feest,
which means wooden
shoe festival in English,
will be reminiscent of the
traditional 'street
festivals held in Holland.
The Business
Association chose a
Dutch...,oriented theme,
because it would make
the festival unique in the
area and also pay tribute
to the many Dutch im-
migrants who have'
settled there.
A three-day. event is
being studied and the
tentative date for the
celebration has been set
for May.
