Soccer kicks off
BY TD
The ''GDCI Vikings
started their season on a
winning note in Huron -
Perth Conference soccer
action here last Thursday
when both Goderich
teams recorded victories
over Stratford Central.
The senior Vikings
defeated Stratford 3-1 and
the junior Vikings came
out on top by a 4-1 score.
In the senior • game,
Stratford started strong
and were pressing until
Steve Walter scored for
the Vikings. That goal
gave Goderich the
motivation they needed
and they began to carry
the play. Randy Little,
who played a strong
game for Goderich
scored twice.
Mark Flood booted in
the only Stratford tally.
Dennis Donnelly and
Jeff Surridge had strong
games for the Vikings
and Mark Alexander was
outstanding in goal for
the Vikings who are
coached by.Del Almeida.

Viking coach Randy
McLeod was pleased with
his team's effort and felt
that the game with
Central and their second
game which was played
here Tuesday against
Clinton were the key to
the Vikings' playoff
ambitions.
