The Azov is one of the
best designed schooners
on the lakes, and is also
one of the fastest, and as
Capt. John has been
liberal with the paint, she
is as fine looking a craft
as there is on Huron's'
waters.

receive Salk polio vac-
cine, Dr. R.M Aldis,
director of the Huron
County Health Unit in
Goderich, has an-
nounced. Dr. Aldis , said
that the unit had, been
authorized to extend the
offer of the vaccine
following the, recom-
mendation of Dr. Jonas
Salk, discoverer of the
vaccine, for a greater
time between doses.
Approximately 50 per
cent of the spring grains
are now eeded with
much of the acreage to be
seeded having been
worked over once or
twice.
Earlybird anglers were
on duty at the harbor
yesterday morning, and
reports were that the
perch catch was good.
Anglers were • making
good catches last
Saturday, but poor
weather during the
weekend slowed down the
fishing activity.

Health general cutbacks.

clerk were involved.
A Valinda California
family was reunited in
Goderich last • Friday
ending 40 days of terror
for a 23 -year-old Spanish
speaking mother and her
four-year-old daughter
held captive in a car since
March 17. The captivity
came to an end when a
Goderich OPP constable
stopped the car in which
they were,travelling on a
licence plate infraction.

The annual Kinsmen Canoe Race was held last
Sunday, April 27 on the Maitland River between
Auburn and Forrester's Bridge near Holmesville.
About 55 canoes and kayaks entered the race in ten

Rotarian to
Captain
George King of the
Listowel Salvation Army
is making a contribution
to the local Rotary Club
Huron, Michigan to
Listowel.
Captain King, a Rotary
Club member, is making
the walk to celebrate the
75th anniversary of
Rotary and to contribute
to the $15,000 the thib,
hopes to help. raise for the
Listowel and District
Association • to the
Mentally Retarded.
This is the second
money raising walk for
Captain King. Two years
-ago, he travelled on foot,
12 hours a day, from the
CN Tower in Toronto to
Listowel, a distance of 100
miles in four days.
His second walk begins
on May 12 and Captain
King hopes to complete
- his journey by May'16. He
hopes to average 30 miles
a day.

Seaforth received major
injuries after the tractor
trailer he was driving on
Highway 4 went out of
control and struck •the
front end of another
vehicle which was
stopped to make a turn.
He then contined into the
ditch and struck a fence
and hydro pole.
The driver of the other
vehicle- was Merlin
Bender of RR 2, Hensall
and his son John suffered
minor injuries.
