Meet two young ladies with a whole lot of talent. They are Debbie Shaddick
(left) as Helen Keller and Colleen Maguire as Annie Sullivan in Goderich Little
Theatre's current production, The Miracle Worker directed by Philip J.
McMillan. The play which will be performed tonight, Thursday,, Friday and
Saturday at MacKay Hall, is the best offering by GLT this season and perhaps

Debbie Shaddick plays
Helen with real skill and
understanding. The
audience can't help but
feel the frustration of the

keen mind— and an in-
satiable desire to know.
Though she speaks only
One syllable throughout
the entire play, she is
able to hold the audience ability as she kept pace

Helen's wild, un-

locally as absolutely
excellent.
Then it was the comedy
Private Lives that was so
beautifully played by four
of this community's
talented actors ,and ac-

But perhaps' the nicest
surprise of the whole
season is the, current
play, The Miracle Worker

Gibson which ran three
nights last week, and is
scheduled for a four -night
run this week, beginning
tonight.
If you have a season's
ticket for GLT and
haven't picked up your
tickets for The Miracle
Worker directed by a
talented Philip
J.McMillan, don't delay.
It's a treat you won't soon
forget.
There are two main
parts in the play - the role
of Helen Keller, the deaf
and blind child from
Alabama who became a
living legend in her time;
and the role of Annie
Sullivan, the young
woman with the heart-
breaking past who gave
Helen Keller the most
Shaddick and Maguire
wrestled mercilessly on
the stage, never once
losing touch with the
characters 'they por-
trayed. Shaddick used
facial expressions as well
as well-planned and
executed body moves to
clearly convince the
audience that Helen was
like an animal that
needed to be physically
restrained. Similarly
Maguire demonstrated
strength and acting
met with tl-ie calm,

Annie .Sullivan. Colleen
Maguire grasped the
need for the character

Maguire comes to the
GLT stage as a
newcomer . and manages
to take charge of every
scene she is in.
There are several
scenes with Shaddick and
Maguire that are terrific,
