Board briefs
BY CATH 'WOODEN
The Goderich
Recreation Board gave
arena manager Peter
Imanse the go ahead to
buy 90 sets of precision
roller skate wheels at its
April 24 meeting.
Imanse explained that
the rental skates are
deteriorating rapidly and
that new skates could pay
for themselves in a few
years because of the
Ropuiarity of . roller
skating. The board ap-
proved
the purchasing of
40 pairs of wheel kits at
$25 a kit, and passed a
motion to buy at least 25
pairs of new skates next
year.
++
Board member Peter
Parent thanked the board
for helping to make it
possible for the bantam
and midget hockey ex-
change with Montreal
and told them it was
highly successful.
He said that the boys
would like to do it again
next year, to which board
member Elsa Haydon
replied, "Next year .you
might need a visa."
+++
Rec director Jim
Moore told the board that
he was nervous about
purchasing needed
equipment for the
summer concession booth
under the grandstand
because council has not
yet approved a budget.
Mayor. Harry Worsell
told Moore to never mind
about the budget and go
ahead and buy a grill at a
cost of about $650 if he
needed it.. Elsa Haydon
seconded his motion.
+++
Program co-ordinator
Jane Netzke reported to
the board that the Far-
mer's Market planned for
this summer at the
grandstand has received
much interest from local
residents.
She said that a number
of people have already
registered for booth
space and more are
expected before June.
+++
The board passed a
motion prepared by the
cultural sub -committee
at its April 24 meeting to
forward to council , the
proposal that the
Goderich Laketown Band
be budgeted $1000 for
operating expenses this
summer.
