Wm. Bogie,- Reeve, of Colborne, . chaired..., the gathering. After Welcoming the guests, there was entertainment of euchre for the adults and crokinole forthe younger folk. There were 47 tables of euchre with several other tables of people playing among themselves and at least eight tablesof crokinole. A number of adults just enjoyed renewing friendships. John Clark, superintendent of Colborne Town- ship roads, was honored at a dinner last Friday night for his.25.years of service. He is retiring for health reasons. Mrs. Richard Buchanan last week were Mr. and Mrs. Ted Pope of Smith Falls, Ontario who were visiting, with their mother, Mrs. Lottie Pope in Godefich hospital. Mr. and Mrs. H. 0. (Bud) Jerry had a special reason • for celebrating "Deep Dive" won in 2:02 at Mohawk Raceway Friday night April 18. This is the second win fOr this horse this year. One is alw'ays pleased to • hear of the' ac- complsihments of young people. Mark .Mon.- tgomery, son -of Mr. and Mrs. Maitland Mon- tgomery has successfully completed his •ap- prenticeship for a brick and stone mason and has received his; certificate. Mark is at present working with Brian Stothers at brick laying. Congratulations Mark. The honored guest; John Clark and his wife June', were presented with two swivel Chairs on behalf of the Colborne ratepayers. In presenting this gift, Reeve Bog e spoke highly 0;of the service John Clark rendered during hi g term of employment which started in 1955. That was Terence Hunter's term as Reeve of Colborne which was f011owed by John Kernighan, Ralph Jewell, Wilmer Hardy, Doug McNeil,, and _ now Wm. Bogie. For most of the years Mr. Clark worked under road superin- tendent Mel Good. It was very unfortunate that shortly after John Clark became road superintedent, his health created a problem and he found it necessary to take an early retirement. John has been very active with the Huron County Plowmen's Association and Clubs and in this community, through his work, has' made many friends and accfueintances.
