HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Goderich Signal-Star, 1980-04-16, Page 207r tx -STAR,, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16,1980 - ticr elementary. school teachers attend language workshops On Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12, 60 elementary school teachers from Huron County attended language arts and creative writing workshops at Robertson School andin the boar- droom of the Candlelight. • Organizer of the workshops was principal of'Seaforth Public School, Paul Carroll. Four different' workshops were held. Ian Fraser,, a language consultant with the Halton Board of Education spoke on the teaching of language and grammar in school. The `eng'Isi coordinator for the Windsor Board of Education, Arnie McCallum, gave a workshop that dealt with how teachers could generate pupil interest in creative writing. A seminar on slides and sounds as a stimulus for creative writing was given by Ken Brown who is from the London Board Sylvia Drake, a Grade 4 student at Victoria Public School, got some first hand experience at weaving during a day long demonstration at the school last week.
