The Rotary Club wishes her all the best as she travels to this beautiful yet distant land. +++ Accidents still claim the lives of more than 1,200 Canadian children every year and cause many thousands of serious and crippling injuries. Although fatalities have been slowly declining, there remains much to be done if this serious situation is to be significantly im- ,, d proved and the lives and well-being of children protected. The Canada Safety Council sponsors Child Safety Week each year from May 1 to 7 to awaken the Canadian public to the need for active participation in child safety. Child Safety must become a major com- mitment of parents, teachers and leisure time habits that can last a supervisors everywhere lifetime is during the in Canada. Through learning years :Of edueation and super- vision, we can help prevent child accidents, deaths and injuries. Youngsters must be made aware of potential hazards in the en- vironment, -whether at home, at school or at play. The ideal time for the development of safety On behalf of the Beta Theta Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority which sold 12,000 daffodils for the Goderich Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society recently, Eleanor Larder presented urban fund raising campaign chairman Claude Kalbfleisch with a cheque for $1,882.64 at the daffodil tea last Wednesday.
