The Central Huron Hockey League (C.H.H.L.) wound
up its season with a banquet and dance at the Legion
hall on Saturday evening. Trophies were given out to,
left to right, Gord McLellan, most valuable player;

Spitzig, goalie with least number of goals scored

North-South All-Star Day a success

If the success of the
third "1annual WOAA
minor hockey North-
South All-Star Day could
be measured in sport-
smanship, goodwill and
hockey skills, then the
1980 edition of this event
was a huge success.
For the second time in
three years the Hanover.
Coliseum was the site for
this special day as All-
Star players from Novice
through. Midget par-
ticipated at their
respective levels.
The players from
Goderich, Kincardine,
Listowel, Port Elgin,
Walkerton, Hanover and
The Goderich Men's Monday night bowling league
honored the top team and bowlers at a banquet
Monday. French Dry • Cleaners won the league
championship. The winners included; Larry
Million, high single; Larry Daer of French; Jim
McWhinney, high average and Randy Hugill, most
improved bowler. The back row includes; Les
Pltblado of French; John Miller, high triple and
Carson Malley, Roy Fisher, Kevin Rumig and Bob
Mills, all of French. Charlie Williams was in the
runnerup position for all fourindividual awards.

The Foresters' Bowling
League held its annual
banquet recently and
various trophies were
resented
Ted and Sylvia John-
ston, Junior and Nancy
White and Larry and
Libby Wilson received
trophies for being the
winning team in the first
half of the bowling
season.
Gary and Deanie
Minielly, Jon and Debbie
Ginn and Jim and Carol
Habel were the second
half winners and also
winners of the playoffs.
Dave . Sowerby . and
Rose Rising won the
highest averages
trophies. Margaret Hall
and Gary Minielly were
high triple winners.
Tom Willis and Shirley
Lamb were given
trophies for high single
games. Junior White and
Noris Carrick were
awarded prizes for being
the thost improved
bowlers.
The executive for 1980-
81 was chosen. They are:

vice president, Bob
Rising; secretary,
Sandra Curran and
treasurer, Yvonne
Dougherty.

proceeded to play ex-
cellent hockey to an
appreciative audience,
throughout the day, Sun.,
March 30th.
Before play began,

tment of Recreation and

Hanover Town Coun-
cillor; Jim Tighe of
Fergus, an Ontario
hockey scout, . John
Gross, the WOAA hockey

Hanover Minor Hockey.
All-Star day '80 chair-
man, Paul Flood, was
master of ceremonies
with the 'voice of Hanover
minor hockey, Ken Pegdo
handling the announcing_
of the entire day.
• In the first game of the
day the North Atoms
defeated the South Atoms
5-1. The North players
were • from Hanover,
Mount Forest and
Walkerton and coached
by Bob Sank of Hanover,
while South players came
from Listowel and
ia.rdin with
Goderich unable to make
the Atom game. -Murray
Knight of Listowel
coached the South team
assisted by Leon Wilson
of Kincardine. The Most
Promising Player award
in this game, chosen by
scout Jim Tighe, was the
North's Chris_
Antonopoulos of Mount
Forest.
In the second game of
the day, Bantam North
coached by Gbrd King of
Port Elgin shutout the
Bantam South coached
by Steve Scott of
Listowel, 3-0. The. North
team won the Gary
McGregor Pizza Delight
trophy for their win and
Wayne Hinsberger of
Walkerton received the
"Most Promising
Player" award.
The Novice group
participated in game
,three with players from
Walkerton and Hanover
being defeated.by players
from Listowel and
Hainover by a 5-3 score.
Coaches for this game
were Al Ateinhoff of
Heno,N.er, Bruce
Rowbotham, Walkerton
and Ron Smith of
Listowel..
In the Pee Wee Division
the Murray Leask.
coached North team
defeated the Wayne
Palmateer South team by
a 6-3 score in a well -
played end to end game.
Receiving the "Most.
Promising Player"
award from amongst all
the.Pee Wees was
Hanver'-s Brent Long,
again chosen by Jim
Tighe of Fergus. The
North captured the....
Convener's trophy for
their efforts in the.game.
In the final game of All-
Star Day '80 the North
midgets coached by
Mount Forest's Doug
Reeves,trounced the Bill
Fritzley of Goderich
coached South squad by a
score of 12-6. This game
featured wide open, free-
wheeling hockey with
Drake Turcotte of Port
Elgin notching four goals
and one assist and cap-
turing the Most
Promising Player award.
The North again won the
trophy, this time the Don
Gravett Hockey Schools
trophy for their victory in
the Midget category.
Overall the North
teams swept all tour
games from the South
this year, but an exciting,
honorful and sport-
smanship day was the
major note for all par-
ticipants in the All-Star
Day '80. The games also
