his sister, Pearl Caldwell,
were returning home follow-
ing a winter holiday in Flor-
ida when Ben suffered a
heart seizure at Moij►roe,
Michigan on Wednesday.

UNITED CHURCH
A full' congregation of
members and visitors cele-
brated Easter Sunday at the
United Church morning ser-
vice. Mr. Cowan spoke on
the topic, "All That'I Am".
The children's story was a
continuation from last Sun-
day on the life of Jesus and
was entitled, "He Is Risen".
The choir sang the beautiful
anthem, "Whispering
Hope".
The induction of three new
elders was held. The clerk of
the session, Lorne -Hasty,
introduced Mrs. Olive Blake,
Mrs. Elsie Irvin and George
Errington and Mr. Cowan
formally inducted them as
elders. Then the other elders
on_the .session came_ forward _
and offered each the hand of
fellowship, welcoming them
as elders.
The pre -service hymn sing
will be discontinued for the
next while.
The sacraments of baptism
and communion will be cele-
brated next; Sunday with
Rev. Cecil Wittich of Blyth as
officiating minister. New
members are also being re-
ceived by confirmation.

and gave her a gift.

year.

asked for the report of the
nominating committee which
was read by Mrs. Clifford
Purdon. Mrs. Porter con-
ducted the Installation of
Officers. Mrs. Errington
thanked all for support given
to her as president for two
years. A hearty applause
expressed appreciation to
her for her leadership. Mrs.
Errington presented six lad-
ies with a gift for perfect
attendance. Collection and
Pennies for Friendship were
received.

to Robinson's Maple Sugar

On Friday, March 28, Mrs.
Farrish took her one kinder-
garten class to Pentlands
Maple Sugar Shack and then
Qn Monday, March 31, she
took her second kindergarten
class.
On'Tuesday, April 1, Mrs.
Cameron took room 5 to Mr.
Doug Cameron's farm to see
the Iambs.
On Wednesday, April 2,
the school pictures were
taken. The grade 8 gradua-
tion pictures were also taken.

class held a Fun Fair to help
raise money for their camp-
ing trip which will probably
be in June.

TAKE NOTICE THAT -
1.
The Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Goderich intends to construct curbs, storm sewer
and pavement on Catherine Street from Bennett
Street to Blake Street as a Local Improvement
and intends to specially assess a part of the cost
upon the land abutting directly on the work.
2. e estimated cost of the work Is '41,000 of which
'9,616.00 is to be paid by the Corporation, and the
estimated cost per foot frontage is '5.25 per an-
num. The special assessment is to be paid in 10
annual installments.
3.
Persons desiring to petition against undertaking
the work must do so before the first day of May,
1980.
