Cause of death unknown Fire death unknown CLINTON - The exact cause of the March 11 fire death of a Varna woman has not been established by the fire marshal's office but Huron. County coroner Dr. Ray Flowers of Clinton said that careless smoking fire may be the cause. Dr. Flowers said that Janet Poswalk, 33, died of smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning in the tragic fire that destroyed the family home. Mrs. Poswalk was the only person in the house at the time of the fire and her body was found by the Brucefield Fire Department. Her death is the second fire related death in the Clinton area. Careless, smoking was thought to have caused another fire in Clinton last November that killed a Goderich woman. In addition, a cash. set tiement of $2,500 less deductions will be paid by the town and Sgt. Stark said that the. money was "a fairly reasonable cash settlement for back wages." ' ' Sgt. He said that the mayor had been "most helpful and sup- portive recently in an - honest effort to resolve the, issues and problems • involving the police."
