series with a 3-2 win over
the Rockets Sunday,
March 16. First period
powerplay goals by Ray
Volland and John Sturdy
gave Sunset•an early 2-0
lead. Dave Mclvor then
scored the eventual
winner-nnverting a pass
from Sturdy and firing in •
a low shot from the edge
of the crease at 9:21 of the
second period.

of play with Sunset a man
short the Rockets pulled
their goaitender, giving

vantage; however, they
were unable to tie the

Game two last Sunday,
March 23 .saw Sunset
score three tithes...•,in the.
first period then add five
more in the second
enroute to a surprisingly
easy 9-0 dubbing of the
Rockets.
Holmesville seemingly
weakened by a weekend
tournament in Blyth was
never in the game as
Sunset scored what
proved to be the winning
goal 10 seconds into the
opening period. Three
goals one minute and 16

exchange this weekend
This weekend Goderich
will '' hosting a bantam
and atom hockey team on
the first leg of an
exhibition exchange.
An atom. 'and bantam
team from a Montreal
suburb will play against
their goderich coun-
terparts here Friday and
Saturday. The festivities
will begin Friday at 6.30
p.m. with the opening
ceremonies and ex-
changing of gifts. At 7
p.m. the Suncoast Suns
atoms will play Montreal
and at 8.30 m. the
Lakeport Steel 'bantams
will host Montreal.
The Green and Parent
Mustangs midget team
was also originally
scheduled to participate
in the series but the
Montreal team was
forced to cancel their
plan§ -for the trip here.
The teams will. play
again Saturday with the
'atoms going at 7 p.m. and
the bantams at 8.30 p.m.
The players will be
billeted at the home of
Goderich team members.
Goderich will make •a
return trip to Montreal
next weekend but it -in -
wolves the bantams and
midgets.
The Lakeport Steel
bantams have been
selling light bulbs to help
finance the hockey trip
and will be canvassing
the town Wednesday and
Thursdayevenings.

meeting of the Goderich
Bridge Club. There were
six tables involved in a
Howell game. ,.
A. Weerasooriya and
John Wood were second
with 621/2 points and Mary
Capaine and Dawna
Sproule were ,third with'
601/2 points. Cathy
McDonald and Pat
Stringer had 591/2 points
and Vic Alexander and
Tom Eadie had 56 points.
In two weeks the club
• will play a charity game
with the proceeds going
to diabetes.

The Suns ran into tough
times against Beamsville
in the second game and
dropped a 9-1 decision.
Beamsville led 3-0 after
one period, increased the
margin to 6-1 after two
periods and clinched the
win with three goals in
thefinalperiod. _.

The Suns have finished
regular season and
playoff action bat will be
involved in exhibition
games with teams from
Montreal this weekend at
the Goderich Community
Centre.
Softball
The Goderich
Industrial. Softball
League will be 'holding a
general meeting this
Sunday, March' 30 at the
Ron Feagan Memorial
Grandstand.
The meeting will take__
place in "the meeting
room at 1.30 p.m.
Team representatives
and officials are asked to
attend the meeting.
The Signal -Star
juveniles will be hosting
the Shamrock League

finished in first place in
the standings and will be
playing fourth place
Lambeth at4.30 p.m.
Second place' Belmont
will battle St. Marys at
2.30 p.m.
The winners of both
those games will meet in
the league championship
but the date of the final
game has not been set. It
will also be played in
Goderich.
The Stars were
eliminated from OMHA _
playoffs by Leamington
and will wind up their
seasons with the • league
playoffs.
