75th year.
Born in Fergu-s,.
Ontario, the son of Hugh
and Mabel Bates he grew
up and attended school in
the district.
On March 1, 1927 he
was united in marriage to
Catherine Warnack of
Grand Valley.
The late Mr. Bates is
survived by his wife; two
sons, Doug and William
of Guelph; one daughter,
Mrs. Cathy Young of
Stratford; seven gran-
dchildren; three brothers
and one sister,
Funeralservice was
conducted at the Wall and
Custance Funeral Home;
Guelph with interment in
Guelph Cemetery.
The late Mr. Bates was
known to several in
Goderich and district
when he .was superin-
tendent , of Point Farm
Provincial Park,
Goderich for many years
while it was being
established and during
that time he resided. in
Goderich and also at
Point Farm Provincial
Park.

Wanda Linner and
Heather Jewell have been
attending Teachers'

College in London and
now are .on their winter
'break. Of -three weeks to
practise teaching in
schools. At present,
Wanda is teaching in an
Exeter area school and
Heather is teaching in a
school ,in the same
district. The girls are
having a pleasant change
commuting • back and:
forth from their homes in
Saltford and Colborne
Township.
Mr. and Mrs. Horace
Crawford of Colborne
Township, and Mr, and
Mrs. Gordon Marshall
and- •Mr. ' and Mrs. Nel
Clark of Stratford and
Huron Haven Village
have returned home from
a two week's holiday in
Hawaii.

islandsrof Oahu and Maui
and spent the weekend.

formerly of Bogie's
Beach, on the island of
Hilo.
They report a won-
derful holiday with ex=-
cellent weather, always
,in the eighties and -
nineties and say it was
quite a 'change to come
back to the climate we
are having. They arrived
home on Saturday and
while they had a won-
derful time, were:glad to
be home again.
Several CoTborne
residents reported in the
hospital last week have
been able to return to
,,their homes and they are
wished a retifrn to better
health.
