Pt. Edward was unbeatable
as theytrornped Lambeth 7 -1
for the "C" division , con-
solation championship'. ' `
Pt. Edward's team worked,
with good accurate passing,
winning them the game.
Lambeth worked well
together, but couldn't hold off
Pt. Edward.
Pt. Edward's first goal
carne at the 0:44 mark with
an unassisted goal by Damian
Mills. Pt. Edward increased
-- their lead with a goal bGary
Cater, who tapped a deflected
puck into the net.
: Lambeth, fighting for the
puck, came back and
decreased Pt- Edward's lead
with a goal by Waft Liley. -
The second and third period •
belonged to Pt. Edward'.
Lambeth was saddled with
penalties throughout the
second period but Pt. Edward
couldn't take advantage of
these.
They took two goals in the
second period to strengthena
lead that Lambeth couldn't
make up.
The :third period opened
and itwas a slow paced
period until the late minutes.
Lambeth kept pushing but Pt.
Edward's goalie wouldn't
give. them a break. Pt.
Edward seemed to be
coasting on a three goal lead.
The last five minutes of the
period and Pt. Edward
decided to quit the coast and
start scoring.
Scott Ranney, Tom Hut-
chinson and Rob Purdy all
scored to make the game 7 -1.
'Lambeth just couldn't keep
up. -

Point Edward advanced to
the "C" division finals with a
4-1 win over Exeter.
The only goal of the first
period came at the 8:56 mark
as Point Edward's Jeff
Morgan poked the puck in
behind the Exeter goalie.
The. second period was
action packed as both teams
came out skating and
passing. -
Exeter got its first and only
goal late in fhe second period.
The puck pass came from
Jeff Pfaff and Scott Bogart
a pass to the front of Point
Edward's goalie where it was
picked up by:Steve Gould.
Point Edward fired three
hard quick shots at the
Exeter net but none was to hit
home.
A big scramble in front of
the Point Edward net while
the goalie was down closed
the actl'oh-packed period.
The third period opened
with Point Edward applying .
-pressure to the Exeter goalie
with ttwo quick wrist shots.
Point Edward got their
second goal when Gary Cater
passed the puck from out
behind the 'net to Tom - Hut,,
chinson who then put it in the
net behind the Exeter goalie.
Point Edward's third goal
came when a downed Exeter
goalie shoved the puck in the
net in an,attempt to clean t.
Point Edward's last goal
came at the 7:04 mark of the
third period as Damian Mills
got a pass from Jeff Morgan
to poke it in the side of the net
past Exeter's goalie.

It was a 5-2 game for
Hespeler-, winning the B
division championship. -
There was no score in the
first period, but, there were
some exciting saves by both
goalies keeping the score
double zero until the second
period.

Hespeler's number 9, Doug
Pearce, assisted by Paul
Hudson made the first goal of
the game. It was a fast action

Tight checking and good
man on man coverage kept
:this game low scoring.
The first two periods had.:.
the action concentrated in the
centre ice area.
Because of the tight
checking, the first period was
kept scoreless.
Lambeth's first goal came
in the second period from a
hard, fast shot from the slot.
The third period provided
some loose action and more
scoring.

Lambeth's second goal was
tipped off Kirk Munch's stick
into the Durham net.
Lambeth goalie made a
spectacular save on
Durham's Terry Whiteside as
he challenged the shooter and
stole the puck.
Lambeth's last goal came
as Kevin Duwyn shot the puck
past the Durham goalie on the, .
left side. -
Durham's -only goal came
at 7:38 of the third period. At
the one minute mark Durham
pulled their goalie but neither
team could capitalize on the

In 'this exciting action -
packed game the winner
wasn't determined until the
last second of the overtime
" period when Seaforth reigned
victorious.
The . first Seaforth goal
came at the 3:58 mark of -the
first period when Kevin
Melody got a pass from. Greg
Murray. to capitalize on the
goal.
Wingham scored at the 8:30
mark of the first period t� tie
Seaforth with a goal . from
Doug McFarlan.
At the 9:11 mark David
McIiwain scored an
unassisted goal.
The action remained fast
and ioose during the rest of
the second period. Nb scoring
occurred in the second
period.
- The third period opened
with Wingham making a
comeback with two goals to
take the lead.
Seaforth scored. another to
take the game into overtime.
The overtime period. was
fast and exciting with no one
knowing whoa would be
,champs. The overtime period
kept everyone guessing.
At the 9:59 mark of the
overtime period Seaforth won
the game with an unassisted
goal by Kevin Williamson.

Mooretown made their first
of two goals when Dan Dennis
came up the ice, winding up,
taking a hard slapshot to the
net. It went in the net but
because of the force of the
shot the puck came flying
back out again.
With only two seconds left
in the second period Hespeler
made another goal that went
right through the goalie's
legs. The goal was made by
Doug Pearce.
In the third period Hespeler
went on to score three more
goals against Mooretown.
Both teams were well
matched in the game, their
skating and passing ability
was equal tonne another.
With some hard checking
and digging in the corners the
game held some exciting
plays.
There was one penalty
during the entire.game. it was
made in the third periq 1 by
Hespeler's number 4, Scott
Clarke, for tripping.
It was a good game of
hockey by both teams and the
championship was well
earned. -

Walkerton advanced to the
'C' division finals with a 6-4
victory over Arthur on
Saturday.
In the first period Arthur
scored three goals to
Walkerton's one to take what
looked like a commanding
lead.
Arthur scored at the 3:15
mark . of the first period as
Bill Goetz scored ana
unassisted goal. Goetz scored

on a wrist shot to put Arthur
in front 1-0.

second period. Bradley
scored on a low wrist shot
that caught the bottom corner
of the net.
Walkerton's third goal of
the game was scored by
Ferge Chapman at the 1:15'
. mark. Chapman scored on a
wrist shot.
Mike Patterson put
Walkerton ahead in the game
for the first time at the 3:03
mark. Patter -son picked up a
deflected pass and fired it by
the Arthur goalie.
The final goal of the second
period was scored at the 9:08
mark. Bruce Jones scored on
a wrist shot after taking a
pass from Patterson. Jones'
goal put Walkerton ahead 5-3
at the end of the second
period.
