Barney study the Waited of God Dear Editor: With a great deal of interest I have read the letters to the editor and I am counting myself very blessed indeed to live in a country where through the pages of the Celebrate anniversary Dear Editor: This year Saskat- chewan is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its pro vincehood. Tis dale and other nearby com- munities are planning celebrations to suitably observe the occasion. Through the medium of your newspaper, we hope to make any former residents of our area, who now make their homes in your area, aware of these celebrations. Tisdale,. the—Land of• Rape and Honey, is planning' a homecoming that will take place on June 30 and July 1. Registration will be on June 30 and. the program for July 1 will include an ecumenical church service, - a eommunity breakfast and other such events. , Special en- tertainment is being planned for young people. More information about our celebration can be obtained by former district residents by writing to the Tisdale and District Homecoming Committee, Box 1090, Tisdale, Sask. SOE:1TO. • Other area celebrations planned include those for Eldersley on August 2; Golbure at their fair on August 6; Sylvania on July 26 and 27; • Con- naught at the fair on July 29 and 30; Star City on July 4,5,6 and 7; Ridgedale on August 2 and 3; McK ague on August 2 and 3; and New Os-goodand-Forester on July 31. Further in-. formation on these celebrations can be ob- tained from the Celebrate Saskatchewan com- mittees they have for- med. Any assistance your newspaper may - be in spreading the word of these activities would be greatly appreciated. Yours truly Rosemary O'Bertos Chairperson of the Tisdale and District Homecoming Committee Wants to start • from page 6 growing older, but I no longer find it interesting, or even amusing, to go to a movie alone, or on a holiday -- alone. I've tried joining friends, but they either have to dash home early to get Fred's supper, or I become the third member of a twoSOrne, and especially at an office dance, feel as if I'm tolerated. No way, Buster. I'll .stay away from these functions like the plague. 'One thing I've discovered. Loneliness • affects both men and women equally. It doesn't segregate the sexes and doesn't seem to bring them together either. All those lonely souls. No wonder the Lonely Hearts Clubs flourish. Talking about clubs. When one is a Senior Citizen, there are clubs of all sorts.:But what do you do if 'you're not a "joiner"? Do you sit alone in your rqom, apartment, or house, watch TV, and stagnate? Then the problem could be solved I suppose because some well- intentioned relative will make sure you are • "placed in a home" for your own good, and companionship of a sort will be formed upon you. Even if you have a hobby or other interests, it is no fun with no one to share 0 0 • the failures and trium- phs.. ' To come back to our two' friends who placed the ads. I wonder if they were asking for trouble -- you never quite know what idiot is going to answer that type of ad. • Being a woman, Pd be very suspicious of a man who had to advertise for a friend, and if I was a man, I'd probably wonder what kind of a broad had to advertise to get a man! The two people in question do, however, fill me with envy on their courage! therewas an Over -50 Club somewhere that could functionin similar fashion to 'the ,Over -60 Clubs. When one is alone up to 50, it doesn't seem to matter so much, but over 50 and ,the horrors creep in. Over 50 means -that one is ap- proaching the nicking chair syndrome and time is going fast. One realizes that the time is coming when all there is to look '- forward to is a lower income, no car because you can't afford it, and lots and lots of time on your Wands. , I have a proposition. Who'd like to start an Over -50 Club? be the! secretary. Stephen called Jesus "Lord" (Acts 7: 59,60), and we are to confess Jesus as Lord (Rom. 10:9; 1 Cor. 12:3). "Lord" in these verses is Kurios, which is the Greek word far Jehovah in the .Greek version of the Old Testament. Is it not rather evident from this that Christ the Lord Kurios) is Jehovah God? 2. Several verses show that the Christ of the New Te,stament is the Jehovah of the Old Testament. For example, Isaiah wrote about Jehovah in Isaiah 6: 1-10 and John sew of called "Jehovah" because they each possess deity. 3. Attributes' of. Christ show that He is God. Jesus Christ knows all things (John 1:48; 2:25; 6:64; 16:30; 21:17). He is eternal (Mic. 5:2), all powerful (Matt. 28:18; Heb. 1:3), sinless (John 8:46) and is unchanging (Heb. Since only God possesses, these at- tributes this indicates' that Christ possesses deity. 4. Certain works of Christ show that He is God. What . does that make the article, "Lent means .more than abstinence"?? In all sincerity C. F. Barney Must agree Dear Editor: For --once I must agree with Mr. Barney in his letter of March 13. It is time he left it to Jehovah to vindicate His own name. As for J.L. Weigand's letter in the same issue, it is certainly very long, but he misses the point, namely that the Wat- chtower Society break their own rules on translating Kurios and ha-Adon when it 'suits them. He also used logic in his determination, of the nature of God. Logic necessarily reduces matters to man's level of knowledge and reasoning. If it were a matter of logic, where - would be the need for faith? J.L. Weigand asks "How can one raise oneself from the dead if you are dead?" Jesus answers: "Break' clown this temple, and in three days I will raise it up" (John 2: 19). As for J.L. Weigand's quote from John 14.. 28 "Because the Father is greater than I am", Did Jesus ever say that His Father was better? At that point when he was speaking, Jesus was on earth and therefore His position was -lower than His Father , having subjected Himself to His will; to descend to earth, to die on a tree to save us ALL. • M.D. Foster Accept deit Dear Editor: I would like to corn, rnent on • Mr. Weigand's letter, in the March 13, Signal -Star. Onte again, as stated before, we have a crucial Problem, "Are there two Alphas and Omegas?" . The problem is solved4 w'e accept Jesus Christ's absolute deity, as the Scriptures Clearly affirm. Yours, Ronald Gardiner, Staffa •011101, In Exodus 34:14 it is clear that. we are to worship no one but Jehovah. But in Hebrews 1:6 the angels worship Christ. In Isaiah 44:6 Jehovah is called the first and the last, but in Revelation 22:13 Christ i the first and the last Since 'there cannot be two firsts nor two lasts, is i not clear that Jehovah and Christ must both be GOd? This reveals tha "Jehovah" is used no only of God the Father but also of God the Son Though they are distinc persons they are each 1111111 • -e- - 14:33). and yet only Jehovah is to be wor- shipped (Exodus 34:14). Christ Himself said that worship is due to God alone (Matt. 4:10), and yet He accepted worship. If Christ in His pre- existent state were the archangel Michael as Jehovah's • Witnesses teach, how could He have received worship, since angels are not allowed to receive worship (Rev. 19:10; 22:8,9)? If, Christ were not God, then worship of Him would be idolatrous. For all such reasons, it is all the more lamen- table that the Jehovah's Witnesses continue to propogate, with -a zeal nee--w-ort-hy- of -a -better -cause, their thoroughly um biblical doctrine and ,to disseminate a deadly hatred against all the Christian churches and what they stand for. Let people like C. F. only GO can do these things, does it not ,follow that Christ is God? Christ received wor- ship. Christ is worshipped by the angels (Heb. 1:6) and by man (Matt.
