William James (Bill)
Huff of R.R. 3 Auburn
died in Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital,
Goderich on • Sunday,
The late Mr. Huff was a
member of Canadian
4Fpr-e ste-rr -B e -n -roil -1 -e -r -
Court number 86. He was
also a member of Knox
Presbyterian Church.
He. is survived by his
wife; three sons, Watson

He was born in Morris
Township, Ontario to
Harold Hilliard and Mary
Jane (Carpenter) Huff on
October 13,1925.
He attended, school in
London and worked as an
insurance salesman for
London Life.
In 1942, during the
second World War, he
enlisted in London as a
flying officer navigator
with the R.C.A.F. He
served in- Bournmouth,
England and -was
discharged in London in
1945.
On September 18, 1954
he married Marie Watson
in London._ They lived'.in
London until moving to service • at the funeral
• '(sodericlr and district an home on Monday, March
1962. ".17 at9 p.m.
and Robert, both at
home; one sister, Mrs.
John (Margaret) Dawson
of Wheatley; and one
brother, Jack Huff of
Port Stanley.
A funeral service was
held at Stiles Funeral
Home in Goderich on
Wednesday, March 19 at 2
p.m. The Reverend G.L.
Royal officiated.
Interment was in
Dungannon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tony
Bedard, Don MacEwan,
Robert Sproule, Jim
McPhee, Arnold Young
and George Robertson.

Hazel Mcllwain and Mrs.
Charlotte Norman are in

W.I. will hold a card
party in the Holmesville
School March 2'7 at 8p.m.

Miss Shirley Norman is
spending her winter
break. with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nor-
man.
The work meeting of
the UCW was held in the
church on Tuesday,
March 11., The ladies
started quilting in the
morning. At noon 20
ladies sat down to a
bounteous pot luck din-
ner.
At 2 p.m., the
president, Mrs. Jean
Ginn called a meeting to
discuss thei business.
Jean expressed her
thanks to Phyllis Cox for
filling in for her while she
was away and Verna
Lobb read a letter from
our foster child with
thanks for the Christmas
gift.
Iona Blake reported all

Couple mark
70th .anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. David G.
Papple of Seaforth
celebrated their 70th
wedding anniversary on,
March 9 at Huronview,

now residing.-
Mrs.
esiding.Mrs. Papple, who is 88
years old, is the former
Isabella Monk. Mr.
.Papple is 94. They were
married March 9, 1910, at
the Egmondville Manse
on "a beautiful winter
day". They travelled by
horse and cutter to their
new home on the Mill
Road in Tuckersmith.
There was a lot of snow
that year,.andt-here•were-
a lot of pitch holes on the
road as they drove along.
They farmed in
Tuckersmith Township
until moving to Seaforth
in 1946.
They raised a familyof
11 children: six
daughters, Mrs. Roy
(Ella) West of London;
Mrs. Wallace (Mary)
Pringle . of, Brantford;
Mrs. Scott (Annie) Kerr
-af- Dorchester, Mrs.
Eimer (Myrtle)Scott of
California,' Mrs. William
(Glave) Little of R.R. 1,
Seaforth and . Mrs.
Douglas (Edna) Stinson
of London: four sons,
Gordan of R.R. 5
Seaforth; William ofm
Egondville; Earle, of.
Seaforth and Lloyd .of
London.
One son, Robert, who
served • in the armed
forces; was .. killed
overseas in1944. •
They have 31 grand=
children and 41 great
grandchildren.
A family dinner was
held at the• auditorium at
Huronview on Sunday.

her home after being a
patient in Goderich
hospital and also a
London hospital.
