the regular session on
Tuesday,- March 4. The
Clerk was directed to
contact the Assessment
Office with regard to
• having representatives
speak to council in '
connection'
assessment alterations
under Section 86 of The
Amendment Act, at the
April meeting. '
.By-law 18, 1979• was
given a third reading and
finally passed. This is the
borrowing by-law to
provide aid in the eon-
orliction of -tile -drainage
loans.
By-law 4, 1980 was
given a third reading and
finally passed too. This --
bylaw imposes. special
rates on certain
properties in the
municipality to cover tile
drain loans.
A motion was passed:
"That West Wawanosh
accept the quotation of
Corrugated Pipe Co. Ltd.
for the supply of a 49 -inch
by 79 -inch rivetted pipe
arch culvert at $55.85 per
foot."
Another motion was
passed : "That West
Wawanosh Township
accept the quotation of
Pollard Bros. Ltd. for the
supply and application of
liquid calcium chloride at
$118.25 per flake ton
equivalent for the 1980
season, subject to ap-
proval by the Ministry of
Transportation and
Communications."
By-law 5, 1980 was
given.a third reading and
finally passed. This is a
Peace Time Emergency
Measures by-law which
Maitland Valley Con-
servation Authority
drafted and submitted for
consideration. It ,offers
liability protection to
council for decLsions
made during an
'emergency as well as
outlining responsibilities
for municipal officials
anal employees.
A motion was passed
"That West Wawanosh
Township accept the
tender of Arnold Stothers
• for backhoe work

$20 per hour ;for 15 -foot
crawler hoe and $25 per
hour for 19 -foot reach
backhoe."
A motion' Was passed
"That West Wawanosh
Township accept both the'
tenders. of Norman
McDonald and Tom
Armstrong at $1,25 per
cubic yard for the first six
miles and $1.20 per mile
thereafter for supplying
and hauling pit run
gravel to municipal
projects for 1980, with the
road superintendent to
use his discretion in
dividing the work as
equally as possible
between the tWo."
A motion was passed
"That the road
superintendent be
authorized to advertise
for tenders for crushing
and hauling ap-
proximately 21,500 cubic
yards of granular
material to roads and
stockpiling ap-
proximately 50.0 cubic
yards in the 1980 season."
The Hamilton Drain

William Shifflett was
discussed and it was
agreed to meet with the
engineer and the owners
concerned on Monday,
March 10.
A motion for amend-
ment "That West
Wawanosh Township
accept the application of
Gerald Jefferson to count
the dogs in the Township
at $1.85 per dog."
A motion for amend-
ment "That West
Wawanosh TOwnship
•accept the application of
Kathy Ann Olson to count
dogs in the municipality
at 11.75 per dog," was
defeated when Reeve
Foran voted in favour of
the motion.
A motion was passed
"That West Wawanosh
Township Council hereby
gives, first, second and
third reading to By-law 6,
1980, to authorize a raise
in the rates to be charged
to dog owners in the
Township."
Rates included in the
by-law are: first male or
spayed female dog - $5;
each additional male or
spayed female - $10; first
female dog - $8; each
additional female -$15.
