The Goderich Com-
munity Centre' will be
b.tzzing with hundreds of
peewee hockey players,
parents and fans this
week during the 31st •
edition of the Goderich
Lions Young Canada
Week Tournament.
The largest ,,peewee
hocke.y tournament will
begin Friday, March 14
and offer spectators eight
days of almost continuous
action through to the C
Division championship
Saturday, March 22.
Young Canada Week
begins Friday with the
opening game between
Listowel and St. Marys at
5.30 p,m,. Kincardine will
play Hanover in , the•
second B Division game
of they evening atfr:40--p;m-:
The tournament
opening ceremonies will
be held, prior to the
Goderich-Elmira game
at 7.50 p.m. and the final
game of the evening will
feature Delhi against
Port Elgin.
The tournament
features 62 teams in five
classifications, playing a
double knockout format.
The AA category includes
teams from London,
Waterloo, Oakville, South
Ottawa, Galt, Bramalea,
Windsor and Guelph.
They begin play Thur-
sday at 3.10 p.m.. and the
championships. will be
played Friday.
The A Division also
features eight teams;
Sarnia,- Huron East,
Markham, Owen Sound,
Oakridge, •Preston, St.
Lambert and St. Thomas.
A competition gets un-
derway Tuesday at 12.50
p.m. and the semi-finals
and championships will
be held Wednesday,
March 19.
There are 14 teams
competing in the B
Division and 16 in both
the C and D categories.
The B and C cham-
pionships will wrap up
the tournament Saturday
and the D finals will be
held Friday evening. -
One of the big ,features
of .the tournament is the

exhibition game, That,

Goderich Lions and St.
Lambert, will be played
Monday, March 17 at 9
p.m.

Sailors fight uphill battle, k:_9-7
The Lucknow Lancers
will' carry a one -game
lead in the best -of -seven
series against the
Goderich Sailors when
the teams meet in
Lucknow this Friday.
The Lancers took the
series lead with a 9-7
overtime victory here
Sunday scoring three
times in the overtime
session.
The seccjhd game of the
series is scheduled for
Lucknow this Friday at
8.30 p.m. and the third
game will be in Goderich
Sunday, March 16 at 2.30
p.m.
The Sailors fought an
uphill battle all afternoon
here Sunday. - They
overcame a rash of
manpower disadvantages
in the second period and
scored four times in the
final period to tie the
Y.B.C.

bowled a high single of

283. The team with the

ward.
But their good fortune:
ran out in the overtime as
Lucknow scored three
times in the span of a
minute. Goderich replied
with a single goal late in
the 10 minute overtime
period- but their efforts
fell two goals shy.
The Lancers led 2-1
after one period and
clung to a 3-2 lead after
two periods. Lucknow
could have put the game
highest score was the
Roller Coasters with
total of 1156.

bowled a high single c

period with Goderich.
outscoring Lucknow 4-3 to
tie the game 6-6. The
Lancers led 6-4 with less
than six minutes
remaining but Scott
Parks scored at 16.27 and
Paul Kelly was credited
with poking in the tying
goal in the final second.
But Lucknow put Sailor
momentum on the 'shelf
early in the overtime
pumping in three goals
before it was four
minutes old and boosting
the ,Lancers into a 9-6
lead.
Scott Parks got one
goal hack for Goderich
with three minutes left in
the overtime but the
Sailors Couldn't cofthe
any closer.
Kelly,Parks— and Don
Colquhoun. scored two
goals each ,for Goderich
and Dan Duncan added a
single. Rick Fremlin
assisted on four Sailor
goals and Ron Sowerby
and Graham Hamilton
chipped in with three
