Illness peaks _- at schools MITCHELL - An as yeat unidentified illness has been boosting ab- senteeism at two local schools over the last week while leaving a thir4 school virtually un touched. At Upper Thames School, the number of ill students climbed to 107 on February 22. The ab- senteeism began with 56 on February 19. Principal Tom Kydd said that the the -ab- senteeism peaked on February 22 in the 535 pupil school where illness usually runs about four per cent. Symptoms- included a sore throat and nausea. Four teachers were also away, although staff managed to avoid - the illness. At ,Mitchell Public School the illness hasn't hit and at Mitchell District High School, the epidemic was less severe. High school principal Harold Wisternoff said absenteeism had averaged 10-12 per cent each day last week with about 60 students away moot days. .ts w
