The new session of the House is scheduled to begin April 14, the earliest possible date to ac- comodate the preparation of an agenda. In other news mortgage interest rates rose again in Canada reaching 14.5 to 15 per cent at most hanks and lending in- stitutions. the high rates have caused a flood of foreclosures forofamilies renewing' mortgages and the building industry has also suffered a setback due to the high rates. Jeanne Sauve, Minister of Communications in the last Liberal government, was selected as tile first woman speaker ' of the House of Coa mons. The appointment was made three days before Trudeau named his cabinet.
