Here Tuesday night the
Sailors. dumped the
Mildmay Monarchs 6-2 to
wrap the best -of -seven
series in five games.
Lucknow handled
Wingham in four games
in the 'othe __division,.
series.
The Sailors won the
first game of the series 7-

count with a 7-6 home -ice
win last week.
In play this week the
Sailors swept '. three
games from the
Monarchs winning 7-0 in
Goderich Friday, 3-1 in
Mildmay Sunday and 6-2
here Tuesday.

Dan Duncan and Dan
Colquhoun led the Sailors
offensively with two goals
each. Colquhoun scored
both his goals in the
second period and
assisted on two others.
Duncan scored the final
two Sailor goals.
Ken Daer, Paul Kelly
and Paul Rau scored one

chipped in with two
assists apiece.
In • the game in
Walkerton Sunday the
Sailors led 2-0 after the
second period and the
teams traded single goals
in the final period as
Goderich won 3-1.
The teams played
through a scoreless first

goals by Ken Meriam.
Meriam opened the
game's scoring at 3.24 of
the , second period on an
unassisted effort. He then
beat John. Chantry three
minutes later. on a power
play after .taking a pass
from Ron Sowerby.
Mildmay .got back in
the game early- in the
final period with Glen
Wendt connecting on a
powerplay . and beating
Bob Hnatyk in the Sailor
goal. The goal was the
first in over five periods
for the Monarchs.

Thea Monarchs had
several opportunities in
the final period as they
enjoyed four power play
situations but were
unable to capitlaize.
In Goderich Tuesday
the teams started out fast.
but the Sailors dominated
the game once they got a
lead. They lead 4-1 after
two pci iods and out-
scored Mildmay 2-1 in the
fjnal period.
During the regular
season the Sailors en-
joyed a modest ad-
vantage over • Lucknow
._-but.the-series -•promises-
be a good one that could
go the full seven games.

Holmesville Rockets a 5-4

O'Brien's Meats in CHHL
playoff action Sunday
night.
Holrnesville now takes

Rob. Meyers have given
Holmesville .a 3-0 lead

Goals by Al Hamilton,

Lassaline tied the score 3-
3 before Meyers second
goal put, the Rockets in
Scott Macaulay then
sent the , game into
overtime when he scored
for O'Brien's with just
under six minutes
remaining.
Holmesville had won
the opening game of the
series 2-1 on Thursday
night.
In the other semi-final
Sunset Golf Club defeated
Purger Bar Royals 6-3
Sunday,' also taking a
2 games to 0 lead in their
best of five series: On
Wednesday Sunset had
beaten the Royals 5-1.
The playoffs 'resume
Wednesday night with
Holmesville vs. O'Brien's
at 9:30 p.m. Game four in
their series, if' necessary
is slated for next Sunday..

tried to shovel in a rebound in a playoff game here Friday. Goderich
defeated Mildmay 7-0 here Friday and wrapped the series with 3-1 win in
Walkerton Sunday and a 6-2 win here Tuesday. They will meet Lucknow

of Lakeshore Basketball League
The Goderich Double

now captured sole
possession of first place
in the Lakeshore
Basketball league.
Last Thursday the Gee
Gees put the icing on the
cake by humbling a
rather bewildered Port
Elgin team by a score of
8.6 to 32.
Goderich put pressure
on the ball from the
opening tip and along
with the quick hands and
coordination of Jeff
Baechler and Greg Smith
they had amassed a
sizeable lead even by the
end of the first quarter.
Warren Watt topped
the scoring with 19 points,
teff Baechler and Bill
Gauley were close behind
with 16 each, followed by
