L_ • The Signal -Star juveniles , will be looking for their second win when they host. Leamington in the third game of a best- oflive playoff series here Friday. The Stars dumped Stoneybrook in the first round of OMHA pi.ayoffs and got off to a quick start by demolishing leamington 11-2 in the first game of that best -of . five series in Leamington Friday. Leamington bounced back to tie the series with a 5-4 victory here Sunday on a last minute goal. The third game of the series will be at Goderich Community Centre this Friday at 8.30 p.m. In Leamington the Stars got inspired goaltending from Brian Shewfelt in the first period and turned on offensively with five goals in the second period en rout to the 11-2 win. -S-Ir lt stop -Fred - several breakaways in the opening minutes of the game and Mike Hodges scored the only goal afthanpealagg_iperiod as the Stars led 1-0. Frustrated at missing their opportanities, Leamington fell behind 6- 1 after periods and were outscored 5-1 in the final period. Mike Hodges led the Stars offensively with six points on four goals and two assists. He scored • once in the first, and Second .period and added two goals. in the third. Bill •Peters and Larry Daer added two goals and two assists apiece, while Doug Cruickshank, Greg Hallam and John Clement added- one goat apiece. •With Goderich holding the home -ice • advantage in the series Leamington faced must-aain. situation in the second game here Sunday and they tied the series on a last minute breakaway goal to shade the Stars 5- 4. Leamington was up for the game and they parlayed that spirit into a 2-0 lead after the first period, scoring the goals in a 35 second span. If a fifth game is necessary it will be played in Goderich, Sunday at 7.30 p.m. Bantams lead oodstock 2-0 The Goderich Garb and Gear Bantams have vaulted info a two -game lead in their OMHA quarter final series with Woodstock: - The Garb and Gear squad recorded back, to back 3-2 wins to take a 2-0 lead in the best -of -five playoff series. The third game ' was played in Woodstock • Wednesday and if a fourth game is necessary it will -be played in Goderich:, Sunday at 4.3'0 p,rn. • In the first game of the series here Friday, Tim Chisholm scored the lone Goderich goal of the final period to break a 2-2 tie aad lift the ',.Qa.eb, eAci Gears to a 3e*iii. It was a different story in Woodstock Saturday as Goderich was forced to come from behind with two goals in the final period to clinch the 3-2 • Goderich led 1-0 on a first period goal by jeff Feagan but .Woodstock scored the only goal of the second period to tie the game. Woodstock took a 2-1 lead late in the final period but an unassisted goal by Ray ,Vanstone tied the game with five minutes • remaining. Vanstone then engineered the winning goal with only one minute, left in the game as Paul ---Mceartney-txrk-hts---pass- and •shovelled in the winner. • The teams tied 1-1 after one period and Goderich led 2-1 heading into the final . period. Woodstock tied the game early in the final periodbefore Chisholm scored the winner at, 5.35. Jeff Feagan and Lee Frisby had the other..
