Winter nuptials
The Christian Refor-
med Church in Clinton
was the scene of a pretty
winter wedding on'
February 29 at 3:30 p.m.
when Fred Van Maar of
R.R. 2 Goderich and
Arlene Vanderwal of
R.R. 1 Varna were united
in marriage.
The groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Van
^Maar of Holland and the
bride -is the- daughter. of -
Mr. and Mrs. Stan
Vanderwal of .R.R. 1
Varna.
The Reverend A.
Vanden Berg of Clinton
officiated at the double
ring ceremony. Music
was provided by organist
Chris cuetter and soloist,..
Joanne Dykstra. •
The bride was given in
marriage by her father.
• She wore a wedding gown
with a key neckline in
front and back, high
mandarin neckline,
empire waist, long,
floating skirt, alcenon
lace and long, cathedral
• train attached. at the
• waist and trim-med with

--Juliet-Qaplet-held a pure-
' silk illusion veil trimmed
with matching- •alcenon
lace.
Maid of honor was
Emmy Nonkes of Lon-
don. She wore a long
dress of 'dusty rose with
spaghetti straps and
meshed jacket cover.
Bridesmaids were
Grace Van Maar of
-Goderich and Gail
Vanderwal of Varna."
They were gowned the
same as the maid of
honor.
Groomsman was Bert
Van Maar of Goderich.
Guests were ushered
into the church by John
Va,nclerwat -Goderich
and Lloyd Bakker of
Aylmer.•
Ringbearers were
Anton Van •Maar and
Martin Van Maar of
Goderich.
Following the wedding,
a dinner was held at the
White Carnation in
Holmesville.
The bride's mother
greeted guests wearing a
jade green long dress
with meshedikckline.
For a two weekwed-
ding trip to Jamaica, the
bride changed' to a. mint
green two piece suit with
matching blouse.

Nonkes in London and by
Mrs. Marion Van Wyk

the best speakers from

Huron -Perth County
Roman Catholit Separate
school system. The pohlic
speaking was sponsored
by the Ontario English
Catholic Tei.ebers'
Association - Huron -
Perth unit.

Two children die in blaze
EXETER - Two Ailsa
Craig area youngsters
lost their lives in an early
morning fire on February
26 in East Williams
Township.
• Five-year-old Ryan
Reeb and two-year-old
Robbie Harding were
pronounced dead at the
scene by Coroner Dr.
Hauffe of Strathroy.
Managing to escape
from the two storey house
on lot 28, concession 19
were Mrs. Wendy Reeb,
mother of the one boy and
Brian and Debra Har-
ding, parents of the other
victim. A small baby,
Nicholas . Reeb also
• The fire was first
noticed at 2:15 am by the
adults who were in the•
upstairs. Mr Harding
jumped to the ground and
the two women tossed the
baby to him before
escaping themselves.
Mr. Harding suffered a
broken leg in the jump,
but was able to run a
quarter -mile to a neigh-
boring farm to turn i1'/the
alarm.

department responded

Pickering said, "the
house was right full of
fire when we got there."
Mr. Reeb was on a trip
to western Canada when
the fire occurred.
Hospital recovers
WINGHAM - A deficit of
$46,000 has' been
recovered at the
Wingham and District
Hospital.
The hospital board
learned that the deficit
- bad resulted- when—the,-
board decided to keep
open 14 beds ordered
closed by the Ministry of
Health. The costs of
operating those beds
were not included in the
hospital budget.

BLYTH - A major portion
of a farrow -to -finish pig
farm was destroyed in an
early morning • fire on
February 23 and caused
damages estimated at
$100,000.•
Blyth fire officials were
-• called at 3:30 am, but
were unable to save. the 50
foot by 78 foot structure
and approximately 500
pigs on the farm owned

4, Blyth, in Morris
Township.
The barn had been set
up for pigs about a year -
and -a -half ago and the
family had only been
living on the farm for the
past • six months, Mr.
Rammeloo indicated that
their dog must have
known there was a fire
for•.his barking,woke-up.

Along with The
livestock; the barn was
also filled with feed -and
machinery, but the fire
.department were able to
save a barn extension and
about 100 animals.
