Winter Games held Saturday, February 16 at the University of

Asian refugees to the
area, the coming of the
Chinese New Year was
celebrated in a special
way on February 15 with
a luncheon and en-
tertainment ut the Trinity
United Chruch in
Listowel.

newcomers from refugee
families living in
Listowel, Wingham,
A Special Whiter 'Gimes was held- -Satnrdayi- --
February 16 on the University of Western Ontario
campus in London. Sixteen athletes from Queen
Elizabeth School in Goderich competed in the
skating, tobogganing, snowshoeing, and skiing
events. From left, Paul Consitt won a silver medal
medals in snowshoeing • and skating, and Mark
Albert received a bronze medal for skating.

Four hockey fans suspended
SEAFORTH - Four
hockey fans in Seaforth
have been suspended
from the town arena for
one week and the
Seaforth police have been
asked to attend future
playoffs games held at
the arena between the
Centennaires and •the
Lucan Irish team.
' The incident took place
after a February 14 game
between the two teams.

Shades

Donnellys!
EXETER - Two St,
Thomas men were a little
early in marking the
100th anniversary of the
Donnelly massacre and
found out that their
method of rekindlinethat
event was rather ex-
pensive after their ap-
pearance in Exeter court.
Ralph William Willson
and Kevin William
aldw-e-1i• • were . fined
$1,000 or 100 days and
were put on probation for
`two years on a charge of
wilfully setting fire to a
building, •
They were charged
after a police in-
vestigation into a fire
which destroyed a barn
near the O•sborne-
BiddLtlph townline on
November 2.
The court learned that
the two •men had joined
four others after a
football game and had
been looking for the
Donnelly farm. They
failed to find it, but did
repeat one of the acts
attributed to the famous
Bidd'ulph Township
family when they set fire
to the barn.
About .400 bales of hay
and an antique thresher
were lost in the blaze,
which levelled the
structure. The barn was
insured for $5,009. •
Willson was given six
months to pay his 'fine
-and Judge W.G.
Cochrane. gave Caldwell
one year for his payment.
Brussels, Mount Forest,
Drayton, Atwood and
Harriston joined with
their sponsors, volun-
teers and civic officials in
the celebration and
potluck meal.
