Mr. Rawson announced that the park will be open from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Sunday. Percy Garrick is the supervisor for the season. Mr. Rawson , then in- troduced Mr.' Patterson, whom he credited with a major contribution to the playground project. After some brief remarks by Mr. Pat- terson, Mr. Cardiff declared the playground, officially oPen.. He, said that he understood that it - had taken several years ter accumulate enough funds to make the opening possible. "It just proves," he said, "how much a group a group of people can do when they set their minds to it and work together." He urged citizens to show their appreciation by throwing coins in the pool before they left.. After ' a few brief remarkds from Rev. A.E. Said Mayor Graham: "We cannot find words. to thank them (the members of the Kinsmen Club) for' the efforts they have put forth here." Following'- the • ceremonies the children tried out the ,shiny new playground equipment while the oder folks gathered around the bingo and and other carnival games, - which had been ' arranged especially for opening night. Refreshments were served on the First life grounds. Booths were in • charge of members of the Kinsmen , and Kinette Clubs. "Pat" Patterson ' when . the club held their "Past Presidents" night last week. The award, was made by the immediate past 'maypole, slides, swings, merry-go-round, rocking horses, teeter totters and and other equipxnen.t..... guaranteed to entertain little folks for hours and hours. a hip president, Jack Marriott. Mr. Patterson is one of the charter members of' the Goderich club, having beep associated with it since 1947. ' In May, 1949, he' organized the Octogenarian Club, which is sponsored by the Kinsmen. He •has been chairman of that club ever since.
