The KIWI= Cltab .of
Goderich has decided to
reorgantxe the
Octogenarian Club,
Which flourished for. some
years under the in-
spiration of the late
"UWit" Black but
became inactive not long
after his -death -
The club, as the name
implies, will include vail
persons of eighty years of
age or over who wish to'.
Join. Under the spon-
sorship of the Kinsmen ;its
operations will include
the maintenance of the
small paintt he iunciiotl
of St. Patrick's and
Arthur streets, the
meeting place of the
octogenarians during the
/Omer period -off - the
club's existence, ' an
annual garden party for
the members, and the
remembrance of
members on their bir-
thdays.
The Kinsmen in
deciding to sponsor the
club felt that it was an
honor for such a group of
young people as them-
selves to be allowed the
privilege of such spon-
sorship, and in the second
place they recognized
that the general attitude
of the public was to
associate service work
with the children and
middle-aged. members of
the community, while the
citizens of the older.
generation were ap-
parently neglected-.. ..
While ' gladly giving
their time and energy to
the promotion of the club,
the Kinsmen request the
assistance of all the
octogenarians in advising
Mr. D.J. Patterson,
committee chairman of
the names, addresses and
telephone numbers of any
who are entitled to
membership in the
organization.
