•
• The • zone was created
three years, ago „because
• : 'of a realignment of some
'' of the -Zones in .District
Poe which inc1udes11
zones With ;99 clubs *-
elusive. Zone .K `includes.
the following ' 'Clubs:"
Clinton,• ... Eixeter,.

Mitchell, St. Marys and
Stratford. All clubs. are .
very active , in their
towns,: .serving their
communities gr.eate.st
needs. They provide such
needy services and funds
for their areas whether it
be arenas, parks, youth.
proJects, 'cystic fibrosis
' research, workshops for
the mentally . han-
dicapped, and senior
citizens centers.
Since the zone's in-
ception there have been
three Deputy Governors.
The first two represented
the St. Marys club. They
—wereTetI Orenda 1.977x.78
and Bob Doupe 1978-79
and myself representing
the Goderich club. My
term will end this year in
June. Each deputy-
governor is elected for a
one-year term in March
of each"year.
Each deputy -governor
is responsible for a
number of duties.
Generally he is to attend
all district and council
meetings; to 'keep the
clubs in his zone informed
on National policies and
programs and to make
sure that these are im-
plemented by each club.
The deputy -governor is
responsible for the ac-
tivities of all. the clubsin
his zone. This respon-
sibility is to the District
Governor, Mike Hoyles,
from Listowel, one of
eightgovernors across
Canada who •in turn is
responsible to• a National
Executive led • by
President John Green
from Drayton.
The responsibilities
cannot be handled, by one
individual..a.lone,-_and _for
that reason the deputy -
governor should have
assistants. I have two. -
They are Mike Drennan
and Dave Cloet both from
Goderich. ,Mike is
responsible . for co-
ordinating activities in
the zone and also for
raised by each of.
the clubs . for • cystic
fibrosis research. Dave is
responsible for ' grading
club bulletins and also
acts as• the zone
secretary. Each man has
_.per'fo-rmedhis.duties very
well.
On a personal note, this
year has been one of ..the
most rewarding 'during
myyears in Kinsmen.
I've broadened _ my
knowledge of this great
all -Canadian service
club. It has been a
gratifying . experience
and would. recommend
this office to any Kin-
smen.
G.erry Paolin of the Goderich Kinsmen Club is the current Deputy -Governor
of District One Zone Ko In the club's 33 year history only two other menbers
have acted . in the same capacity, Ken Pennington in 1952-53 and Doug
Cruickshank, 1967-68. Here Gerry is pictured with District Governor Mike
''Hoyles and the past deputy -governor, Bob Doupe. Kinsmen clubs have over
17,000 members in 615 clubs across Canada.

As Kinsmen celebrate their' 60th Adniversary, as an
all Canadian service club, we ioolceupon our .past with
pride and having played anintegral role in serving our

Hamilton, to .625 clubs coast to coast, today.
Also developed are over 900 auxiliary clubs - Kinette
Clubs for the wives of Kinsmen members, K-40 clubs
which are made up of Kinsmen or past Kinsmen who
have attained the age of forty, and K-Ettes which is a
club for the wives of K40 members. All of these
auxiliaries have played a supportive role in the clubs'
various projects over the years — Forty Thousand
Canadian men and women working for Canada.'
Kinsmen Service has extended to the point where we
