Seaforth, Kincardine, Listowel, Milverton and Goderich. The trophy awarded to • the team with the highest points for the two draws, was won by Ann Kuran's team. Winners in the •first draw: first, Faye Ribey skip, Nancy MacKinnon • vice, Chris Turner, second and Lorraine Betties lead; second, - Irma Pryce's team from Seaforth and in third place Phyl Durst skip, Kay Duncan vice, Penny - Peters second and Lynn Todgam, lead. Those intermediates are still going strong! In the second draw in first place arid "overall winner, Ann Kuran's • team; second Wilma Rathwell, Listowel; and third Lynn Edward skip, Eleanor Erskine .vice, Mary Anne Dempsey second and Vicki Culbert lead. Teachers' team won first and were the trophy winners at the teachers' spiel in Wingham last Saturday. Skip was George Sutton, vi c Lynn----Ed-wardr-- second Doug Bundy and lead Bill Garrow. They won all three games in the 16 team, day long event. Our G.D.C.I. Boys' team is representing Huron County along with the boys team from Clinton in the Huron - Perth ,curling playdo_wn on Thursday. On the team is skip Kevin Dykstra, vice Greg Hallam, second Kevin Bundy and lead Lou DeWinter. They placed second in the Huron playdown in Clinton last week. We're told .it's -a real thriller Merchants end up in second spot in league standings The Goderich Mer- chants closed out the Intermediate schedule with a win last Thursday demolishing Exeter 9-2. - The victory boosted the Merchants into second place in the final league standings behind the Zurich Buckeyes. The Merchants will begin their first round of playoffs here Monday, March 3 against either Parkhill or Exeter. Despite finishing in second spot in the overall league standings the Merchant goaltending duo of Doug Fisher and Doug Spitzig again topped the league in the goals against depart: ment. In the game against Exeter the Merchants led 2-1 after one period, in- creased the margin to 5-2 after 40 minutes and added four goals in the final period for the win. Eight players shared in the • Merchant scoring with Rob Standen leading -the way with two goals. He opened the scoring midway through the first period and added his second - in the- middle period. Ron Corriveau, Phil Petrie, Bruce Bowman, -Phil Paquette, Paul Corriveau, Barry Bloch and Dave Graf scored -one goal each for Goderich. Len Kolkman chipped in with-threc assists -and Bowman added two assists for a three-point game.
