Goderich. Little Theatre production.of the season, The Miracle Worker, on April 24-26 and May 1-3. girls are neecled to complete the cast, DEBBIE SHADDICK GLT will be holding auditions at MacKay Hall on Sunday, March 2 at -7:30 "'Ii.m, to choose the remaining characters. Three adult males, one boy, . six adult females and eight- to ten teenage COIfEEN MAGUIRE TheMiracle- Worker_ is. a very ambitious project which .has been in the offing for about a year. The two main characters had to be chosen with extreme care and the show will be built around them. Debbie has acted in many G.D.C.I. drama club productions and Colleen was last seen in .the GLT production of Fiddler on the Roof. Written by William Gibson, The Miracle Worker is the story of the struggle of Annie Sullivan, a teacher of the blind and deaf, as she 'Library circulation up The year 1979.marked a year of continued growth for the 28 branches of the Huron County Library, ,according to the annual report. - Total.-yearlycir.culation.._ was 286,253, an increase of 19,160 over the same' period in 1978. Bayfield, Goderich, Hensall, Wingham ' and Zurich branch libraries showed ' marked increase in circulation. Total number of requests filled at headquarters in Goderich was 2,598 items, an in- crease of 425 over the 1978 total. Film bookings -increased 22 per cent -tip - to 2,614 films borrowed. The summer reading theme and midterm 'activities were some of the programs sponsored by. Huron County Library. to celebrate the Inter- national Year of the Child. - Through co-operation with Midwestern Regional Library System, Huron County Library received grants from Outreach Ontario.to sponsor the following artists: Merrick Jarrett (folksinging); Paul .Gaulin Mime Company; Bim Bom Boom (Circus trio); Theatre Aquarius; Port ' Stanley Festival (puppet show) and Andrew Fe 'grave (magic show). Children'S programs were taped for County Cable in Listowel by Marian Doucette and Therese Wilson, Microfilm readers were purchased for Clinton, Seaflirth 'and s Wingham &ranches, These branches- have copies of their town newspaper on microfilm. Signs with library hours were installed in the village libraries. Book drops were purchased for Clinton, Exeter and Seaforth. New staff members were hired at several branches during the year. Mrs, Dorothy. Moffatt was hired at Exeter, Mrs. May Wiggins was hired at Dungannon, Mrs. Maxine Hyde was hired at Huron Park, Mrs. Velma Robinson was hired at Hensall, Mrs. Marsha Triebner was hired at Bayfield, Mrs. Olive Sproul was hired at Ethel and Mrs. orothy Smythe was hireDd atGoderich. Two branch staff meetings were held for the town and village libraries and one rhepting for the other 17 branches. Three students ' were hired through Experience '79. They visited'vacation camps and held story hours - and crafts" at A,uburn, Dungannon, •Blyth and Belgrave. Book Clubs were ' for- ..m.ad at Grld.ericli and Bayfield Branches. Huron County received a $7,000 Wintario grant • for the purchase of 'Canadian books. The library par- ticipated in the half -back program for the purchase of Canadian records. Four Perth County townships, Wallace, Hibbert,, )31anshard and Fullerton, gave grants to Huron County Library for service. to Perth residents.,• The Seaforth Huron Expositor, and the Zurich Citizens N,ews were microfilmed.
